    No, die deterioration. Note the ridge ring that plagues copper plated zinc cents late in a dies life.

    I never knew what to call that. So that can affect the strike to the point where it appears to be doubling like that? I have seen the rim like that before but it didn’t come along with any of the appearance of doubling. Nice!
