1996 Roosevelt dime anomoly

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by William Reavely, Sep 1, 2017.

  1. Hi folks,

Still on my quest to learn more about error coins....

I'm trying to determine if this dime has a mint error or if it is PMD. If it is an error, can someone describe the type? Maybe just my error?????

Thank you in advance for any knowledge you can pass along to me regarding this coin. S20170831_0012.jpg S20170831_0014.jpg S20170831_0011.jpg S20170831_0016.jpg S20170831_0017.jpg S20170831_0015.jpg

I would call it a very minor off center strike, as both obverse and reverse are slightly misaligned in the same direction.

There's no design elements missing, and
the rims are complete, so it can't be a
    minor o/c.

The planchet sat a little off center in the chamber, with both dies well aligned to each other, but not far enough off center to lose any of the design detail.

It isn't a completely normal looking coin, but it also isn't special enough to be characterized as either a MAD or an OC.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

It also looks like it was struck with very worn dies.

All the hallmarks of a Philly coin. Misaligned, deteriorated die and MD. Sorry, just a very sloppily made coin from the folks who are experts at same.
