Sure there is, Fred. It's the common error - thinking it's an error. :wacky:

Hey Kurt. I see that you're a secretary of a country club, I was wondering what's your handicap is? Have you ever shot a round under par. If so what is your lowest round?

I was the secretary of a prominent COIN club. I've never even been a GUEST at a country club. I used to chase the little round ball at public courses in my youth. The woods on my most recent full set are made of wood. What does that tell you? I used wound balata balls. No, not feather filled. I was officially not an amateur for USGA purposes for a single year because I won too much one year at skills contests. My putting and short game were hot as blazes, but I never could shake a nasty fade off the tee and with longer irons. The year I was winning stuff was I think 1984, maybe 85. I continued to dabble until I had my cerebral hemorrhage in 2009. I haven't picked up a club for anything other than physical therapy bits since.

My favorite answer to the handicap question was that my handicap was 2 - I didn't play well enough or often enough. In reality, the lowest my USGA handicap ever got was 11. If I weren't a "sick" putting and chipping prodigy then, it would have been truly ugly. The "arms race" between equipment makers and course lengtheners soured me on the game. They even ruined Augusta National.
