I watched Rick in the past and his information is good, but some are right, sitting through his program is grueling. Also I've noticed his program is only available on Satellite T.V. I've never seen him on regular cable.

Very true. His eBay pricing is quite high as well. He had a very nice Frankie for sale, common date, but nice condition and I tried to negotiate a better price with him. I was willing to pay a premium over current market pricing, but, IMO, his price was still too high. He was charging well over into the next grade price point.

ESN Direct is mostly satellite. However if you have TVG, the horse racing channel on cable, you can catch them in the wee hours after nighttime racing is finished.

A couple of guys named Robert Parsons and Kevin Hite do the ringmaster honors.

Their most-recent outrage was a gimmick called the "Seattle Hoard," a bunch of silver eagles all graded by IGS as MS-70 and peddled with comparisons to the prices of PCGS and NGC slabbed eagles.

    What a payday!

Truthfully, none of the certifications, be they from ICG, PCGS, or NGC will add ANY value to buillion 'coins".

So from a comparison standpoint, they are worth the same, just not what the price guides say they're worth.

I was a collector kinda like a sport collecting silver and wheat penny's. Then because I can't sleep more than 5 hrs a night I saw their show in 2003. they were selling a PF 70 silver buffalo for like 500.00. Silver was around 4.70 / oz. I started doing my research I saw ebay was like half the price. I then noticed I could buy and grade them at NGC. The usmint web site was easy to find but the collectors society was a bit hard to find. Now I found the Silver eagles that my son was getting for his birthday could be graded. and the 1993 and the 1994 were big money. My quest began. I graded the 1994 and 1993 and got a 70 for the 1994. Basicly I am saying that Robert Chambers made me rich because he taught me the value of grading both proof and mint state silver eagles. I couldnt believe the 1995 W price. it was like 8,000.00 dollars. Whish I would have bought one. I did buy a set of 10th anniversary silver eagles. Mine came in as PF69. I now own a complete set of silver eagles PF70 with the exception of the 1995 which is a pf69. But I also boughtt about 300 sets of the 20th silver eagles for about an average price of 150.00 each. can you believe My average of grading these coins were about 40% of 70's. So I didn't buy much from the Coin Vault ( I bought the 20th anniversary MS70 Blue label for 1500.00 Broke even.) but I got motivated by the show and learned how to buy and grade my own coins. Still watch with regret that 10th anniversary which sells for a lowest price of 17900.00 from APMEX But I have lots of perfect sets because I used the coin vault as an educational tool.
Loving the Buffalos investment. Yes most of my buffalos were graded by me. same for my proof and MS eagles, not to mention my Silver pf70 statehood quarters. I was an ebay addict for price shopping since about the year 2000. buffalos.jpg

Robert Chambers taught me a lot. Love the anniversary eagle sets. can't wait until next year for the 30th. RIP Robert Chmbers. I couldn't watch the show but always recorded it then fast forward through it. Thanks to DDR.

I can remember when you were lucky to get 10% of MS70 from silver eagle bullion coins. The mint has improved their minting process so much that you can almost get 50% now. It doesn't pay to grade them now though, I get them from ebay now. Ebay, initative, research and the US Mint website and blogs were the biggest addition to my collections.

I am one of their victims,( THE COIN VAULT) I was scammed big time. They advertise 1964-2011 Proof Sets. I paid $599.00. When I got the items in the mail the 65,66,&67 were missing. I called after numerous e-mails were not answered. I was told that no one made proof sets in 65,66,&67. I ask them why they were advertising & selling items that don't exist. There answer was, " You should have known there were no Proof sets made in 65,66'& 67. Kind of like, The jokes on you fool. These people are scam/con artist big time. 08/2017

Although it's terrible Robert Chambers passed away he was no teacher he made more numismatic mistakes that it was laughable he was a coin huckster out to make a buck with Scott Houk if he made you so rich maybe it will make up for all those who he took advantage of because they trusted him to be fair. Bye the way just how did he teach you how to grade coins? Gradeing companies did their's at a large discount for quantity...Almost 50% of bullion's grade 70? maybe if your a large coin dealers no names.;)

I agree that you can be conned by them, but they are correct in stating that there were no proof sets made in 65, 66, and 67. Special mint sets were issued during those years.

They usually say that they throw those in. (SMS) So that there are no gaps in the set. "But no one else does". Something like that anyway. I enjoy watching these coin shows for entertainment value, and to see any new coins that I didn't know of. You can usually find what they sell for half (or better) of what they charge.

Like said before, they advertised proof sets from 64-2011. I call that deceptive business practices. They pry on people that don't know a lot about coins such as myself. Total scam/con artist on the coin vault.

Were there any proof sets in that range that you didn't get? If not then you got exactly what they promised. (Now if you didn't get the the 1992 - 2011 silver proof sets, and only got the clad proofs then you might have a valid complaint.) I also find that when people make complaints that they didn't get what was promised or that they lied about something they often leave out part of what they said. They run from a script and that script has been reviewed to make sure that although it may skirt the edge it is truthful. They are really good at getting their customers to infer things that aren't actually stated.

Sometimes they do offer the SMS sets as part of the run. Need to listen carefully.
