Recent purchase and need advice. It is a 1947 Walking Half and has an obvious double mint mark. It appears to have doubling on the majority of the words on the reverse. I have found no report of DDR for this coin and would like to have it evaluated further. Doubling seems to be most obvious on the words "Half Dollar". Should I send it in to be graded?
It looks like machine doubling to me, but the mintmark is too small for me to tell if it has been repunched or not. Mintmarks were punched into the die by hand at that time. Save your money. The condition of the coin doesn't look to be good enough to submit it for grading. Chris
What value would a RPM hold? The coin is in great condition and I want to take it to a local collector but want to have some idea of its value before selling. Thanks to all, you guys (and gals) are great!
You weren't listening. Chris said it is not an rpm. I agree with Chris. This has no extra value other than it being a very nice walker.
Tyler, you are my buddy, but you weren't listening. I agree with that. The image is too small. It looks similar to RPM-001, and placement is similar. You need clearer, closer images to confirm or rule out. http://varietyvista.com/10 Walking Liberty Halves/1947DRPM001.htm
No man, you could very well be right but there is no way to tell with the images provided. We can only speculate.
