What you have is either a genuine $20 gold piece worth somewhat more than the current price of one ounce of gold (~$1300) or, more likely, a counterfeit coin. Hard to tell from picture. Weigh it. It should weigh about 33.47 grams if genuine. And if the weight is correct you need to post better pictures.
Obverse looks terrible. No one is selling a $2000 gold coin for $20. If it's too good to be true, etc. Does your coin look like this?
It looks like has a mint mark and all both the Denver and San Francisco 1925 $20 are rare. It does not appear to be real though.
i'll upload better pics soon and weigh it when i get home. I figured it was too good to be true but worth the $20 risk.
That is exactly what a scammer wants you to think. I am trying to be mean but come on. 20 bucks for a nearly 100 year large gold coin? Was the seller a dementia patient?
Two possibilities: 1. Someone sold you a fake. 2. The world's biggest fool gave away 1 ounce of gold for $20. No. 1 is a safe bet. Sorry.
Sorry I believe its fake, look at the picture of the real coin and the angle the sun rays hit the underside of the bird, then look at yours, yours is nearly straight on compared to the real coin which is hitting it at a different angle. Sorry it's a fake. Thanks, Jacob
The coin is a counterfeit. Look at the color, size of Liberty's head, date numerals. The shape of the 1925 alone is all you need to see.
