token given out for the naming of a Philly fire company, still operating today by the guy's brother

 

Cool token. Looks to be relatively scarce. I'd not seen one before. There's a higher grade one on Ebay at present, I see.

One John H. Clay appears in post Civil War, Philly directories as a locksmith. He may be the same guy who patented a door latch and perhaps more into the 1890's. The guy who issued this token, perhaps the locksmith, must have been a man of means. Some interesting history could likely be attached to these firehouse medalets.

 

She's only #7 on the top 15 for golden rasberry awards according to wiki.

 

And for as long as she lasted really only a 2 1/2 and now looks rode hard and put away wet !
