Hey guys it's me again with another new coin that I found. And personally I think that it's a really nice doubled die but then again who knows right ...
Flat and shelf like. Md but there is a die crack in the reverse going through I T in united and hitting the memorial building
Looks like machine doubling to me. Did you check it against any of the error sites like Variety Vista? The great thing about checking out those sites is that you'll be able to look at a lot of doubled dies. One of the keys to learning about any area of numismatics is to look at a lot of examples.
Well I appreciate all the great advice everyone . But my question is . What about this faint raised doubling that is directly under lincolns ear . And the letters that are showing raised doubling ? It seems like the focus is everywhere but the areas taken in the photos . Lol
And no I haven't done that yet Oldhoopster ... I was hoping that someone already knew about the 1991 lincoln cent variety with a doubled ear
Thank you desertgem but the doubling on the ear lobe that I'm referring to is right underneath lincolns ear . And I've drawn a red circle around it to hopefully make it a little easier to see it .
Ok . Tyler G. It's not doubled . No problem . So what exactly is that I'm seeing that is forming the same shape of his ear ... Again I've drawn a circle around it ?
If you look closely, the area you circled doesn't match up with the shape of the earlobe. Compare it to the actual one you posted. Another thing I noticed (great pics BTW) is a lot of small bubbles. Look on the shoulder and in the field behind the head across from your circle. It makes a lot more sense that the "doubled lobe" is just another plating blister If you really think it's something, send it to Wexler, but it seems that the consensus here (myself included) thinks you should save your money.
There was absolutely no reason to post (what I assume is the) 1984 as a comparison as there simply isn't one to be made. Also, Gemmy has shown himself to be very knowledgeable and adept in this area; you'd be wise to listen to what he has to say. As always, good luck.
No Oldhoopster ... I was only using that photo to show a general area of where the ear doubling is not as exact comparsion . In fact there are other coins that have different forms of ear doubling in different areas as im sure you know right ?
Remember this? Everyone else said "earlobe", which perfectly describes what's doubled on the unnecessary example photo YOU posted. Perhaps then issue here isn't everyone else "focusing" elsewhere, but is you, again? https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/earlobe
Lol ... Ok Oldhoopster Catch you later . And to booksb4coins . Once again man . You are so right . I don't know how you do it man your so amazing and so great . In fact It's probably just a figment of my imagination that I'm seeing a shape under the ear inside the red circle . Its probably not even there . LMBO
