For those of you who have seen my posts - you probably thought these would be large cent or indian cents, but HAH I have some half cents lurking around also. These are two new ones I got today. I think the 1853 might go as high as MS63, but post your opinions of both coins. All opinions are welcome. Was a good day at the store today.:mouth:

I think the '53 is a slider - have to go with AU58. The '56 has EF45 details, but I would guess that the coin spent a short time in the ground as it appears to have some minor corrosion and pitting, especially around the edges and on the rim. JMHO

Pics are too small for me but looks like some nice half cents there.
    I love my copper too.

I always base my grading opinions on the ANA standards. Reading those standards for any particular coin will always make it clear why I say what I do.

Its kind of hard for me to tell if a coin is a slider through the plastic.

Both are very nice coins. What'd you say you paid for them?

Combined $460 - I normally would not post this but I always like discussion(and you won't upset me if you say I spent too much). A know a little high, but I liked them - most of that cost was the 1853($360). It is worth it for me to see the coins in hand a couple of times. They have even offered to hold coins for me - even if I decide not to buy. I haven't take them up on this yet and have missed several nice coins.

We did discuss both the coins - I see the roughness GDJMSP mentioned on the rim. Under 60x I took a snap shot of the rim. You really can't see this under my 10x spy glass. I am not convinced it is corrosion, but I can not dispute his opinion either. Plus I graded them XF40 and 63 brown. I was going to buy the 53 rb ms coin - but they sold it between visits.
