Hi all, Flea Market purchase 8-26-2017 Picked up this double Mint Error today - Off Center Strike - I say 90% Improperly Mixed Alloy - The dark lines that run horizontal to each other is proof of this. Looks better in hand than the picture. Enjoy
Nice! st on the obverse, and a t. Plus the corner of the memorial, and the FG on the reverse.I have never seen one like that. Thanks for sharing.
Paddyman98 I have a off center wheat cent. no picture now, but I will try and find it tonight. what do you think the value of it is ?
Depends on different factors. Pre 1982 Copper Cents would have a better value than post 1982 Copper Plated Zinc Cents. Wheat vs. Memorial Cents. And % of the Off Center Strike. For Example, I paid $5.00 for the Memorial Cent shown today and for a Wheat I have paid about $15.00.
thanks for value. I will try and find a photo of it and my other errors for you to see and value tonight.
I had a little time before work to make very quick out of focus pics of my errors. hoping the focus is good enough for you to see enough detail. my camera phone does poor quality focus for close ups. I would like to know what the current values of my error coins collection ??? on to the pics...
a blank nickel planchet with counting machine circles... current value ? a Netherlands coin with a crack in it that was found in a roll from my friends father back in the netherlands. wondering what its value is ?
On the blank planchet, is that for a US dime? Is it silver or clad? All those things affect value. Is there a rim, or no rim? Personally, I like when there is a rim as you can tell it's really a blank planchet, although I think the ones without rims are worth more. (But how can you tell it's really a coin blank?) Offhand I would guess $3-$5.
@spirityoda Nice. Do you know how many threads you can create with your Mint Errors! Especially the Netherlands Coin.
I will not sell these errors. they are very interesting to me. I just want to know the current value of each 1. thank you for your experienced opinions on my error coins.
that would be a good thing to do, but I would need much better in focus pics. soon to come later in the week hopefully. off to work now. later.
I would weigh it. To make sure it is a nickel planchet. (Easy for me cause it has a distinct low tone on my metal detector.) And I have a digital scale. It should weigh 5 grams. Otherwise, it might be something else. Someone might have just put a pot metal slug into the roll. Checking on values. Just glancing at EBay, the nickel blanks seem to bring more than the cent ($2-$3) or the dimes ($5). I saw a couple in the $9 range. An error expert would know what the value is.
My GF bought a bunch of foreigns at a flea market (inexpensive). I pulled out a few silvers. One an old coin from 1800 Ottoman Empire. Another a nice rare Dominican Republic 10 centavo 1939 only 150,000 minted.
She sometimes will put them on jewelry, and I told her I am taking these silver coins out. One time many years ago there was an old coin in her classroom that she gave me. A nice condition 1798 Spanish reale (minted in Mexico I believe).
