I changed my guess. ron had posted this while I was try to throw up one, and I first went with $1500, then changed it to $550 (or so), and then thought more about it, and went to $2k. @jwitten can go, I do look like pic number 2....

 

Was it the gentle golden toning that you like about it???

...I have been looking for half cents for my type set and they seem to go for quite a range...this one looks like it has some interesting color but also some issues...so I'll go somewhat low

My guess for this one is $50

 

The condition is what I was uncertain about. I take it, from your guess that this is in less than good???

 

I would net grade it G/VG; however, I don't think price guides are reality, and I don't think the surfaces/color are original. Thus, my price guess.

And HOW is guessing THIS 1809 half cent so much better than a toned Morgan??
You guys DO realize that Morgans make up the majority of the toned market right? The length of time and conditions of storage are the reason why we even have a toned market to begin with !! Hence, i see no reason why everyone should be complaining about the # of appearances they make in this thread.

They aren't the majority of the toned market when you consider everything, but I would agree they are the majority of the massive premiums of the toned market.

 

Not all were complaining, until now. ...
