  1. I have attached pics of a 1974 D Half Dollar and as you see the E over the top of the head don't go down there is a space is that an error?

    It's from a polished die -
    every coin struck from that die
    will look like that;

    It is an 'error', but a common die polish
    error that wouldn't bring a premium, imo.

    Good eyes to catch it......but not a big deal.....

  4. Thanks for the info, I will keep it for my collection, I really appreciate the quick response!

    I beg to differ @Fred Weinberg. That is the way the coin was designed and engraved by Gilroy Roberts. As that is a 1974 D as the OP says, well the mint must have been using the SAME die in 1964, the bicentennial (1776-1976) [except for the date], the 1981 mint set that I have, the 1971 mint set, the 1977 mint set, and the 1987 mint set and through the 2007 P & D BU rolls that I have and right to the 2017 coins coming out now.

    They all have the same markings as follows:The lower part of the E plus the lower vertical part of the R is designed and engraved that way from way back then through now. The pictured coin has the questionable part(s) behind Kennedy's head. No polished die.

  6. Here's a pic of the whole coin in question.

    Mr. Jarvis, when you "upload a file"...after it is [or they all are] uploaded, click [before you post whatever you are saying] the full size picture option or you will post thumbnail size pics. Then the full size pics that the readers see; they can [for the most part] click on them and magnify them to see the details of your coin better.
