One of the aspects of coin collecting that really interests me is gathering coins from countries that issued very few coins. I'm talking circulating coins for the most part from mostly islands, colonies and small countries that only issued coins sporadically over the years. Here are some in my collection.

The first batch includes Essequebo and Demerary, St. Helena, Danish West Indies, Zanzibar and Brunei. 1813 essequebo and demerary 1 stiver.jpg 1821 st helena half penny.jpg 1860 danish west indies 1 cent.jpg 1882 zanzibar 1 pysa.jpg 1887 brunei 1 cent.jpg

Yes - I love these "off the beaten track" coins. Here is a Gibraltar one I picked up about a year ago, along with slightly better examples of the Saint Helena and Essequibo coins.

is it possible to get a better close up pic of that star side ? This grade could be worth a pile of money.

I'd have to find it again. I feel like this coin has some flaws though. I know I didn't pay a whole lot for it.

    Good call on Gibraltar. I have one from there but don't have a pic yet. Here's a few others I remembered. Monaco, Catalonia and Lundy. 1837 monaco 5 centimes.jpg 1846 catalonia 3 cuartos.jpg 1929 lundy 1 puffin.jpg

Yes Lundy was one of the places I thought of straight away when I saw your original post, but I couldn't find my picture of one. Of course strictly not a country - it was never independent of the UK even though Martin Coles Harman, who issued the only two coins ever minted in 1929, did declare himself "King" at one stage. It is now a nature reserve with a small warden population and dozens of day-trippers.

I usually estimate around 15,000. I have a pretty good system of organizing them, but they're just not convenient to access quickly so I can't just go grab a coin anytime I think of it. I need to move a lot of stuff around.

Republic of Euzkadi (October 1936 - June 1937).
This country existed during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939).
It was republic of Basques. They are released only 2 coins.
