While I sorting out a roll of pennies I got from the gas station this a.m this 1968 -D was one of the penny. As I picked it up I noticed how odd and irregular looking it is. Just wanted to know the what caused it to be this misshapen. Is it worth keeping or can I put it in the stack of pennies to be exchanged in the bank? Thoughts, comments and opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks man! I am really glad I joined this group. Reason being is you get an honest comments, advice and sometimes humorous feedback but never a demeaning or rude comment. It's a great resource for beginners like me. I don't get intimidated nor do I hesitate to post questions that since I know that I will receive great info that will help me along the way. Thanks to members like you man.
Hope you find it fun here. I definitely agree with you to an extent! There are many knowledgeable people here, and there are some (like me) that just don't know particular things, so don't always take the first answer. I have seen many knowledgeable people get schooled by what you can call experts like Fred Weinberg. What I am trying to say is it's a learning process for sure. Long.... learning process....
No one knows it all, so its good to have a community of fellow collectors to bounce ideas around with. Also, in addition there are many aspects of this hobby that are subjective so no matter how much you learn there will never be clear cut right and wrong answer to some issues. That being said, the longer you stick around here and the more questions you ask, the less you will find yourself needing to ask. You'll begin to find questions of others that you can give informed input on. As tyler said this hobby is a very long learning process. I'm sure even so-called experts find themselves learning new things from time to time and even being caught off gaurd or being wrong occasionally.
Since I have you two here, would you mind giving your take on how some of my SBA , Kennedys and sacagewea would fair grading wise? I know you can sell anything for exorbitant amount, it all bears down if someone is willing to pay for it. Hopefully you can indulge me. I will post some pics after I pick up my kids. Again thanks
At least an idea if it's worth holding onto for possible grading submission or be exchanged again at for another roll of half dollars and dollar coins
Hey buddy I think it would be best for you to post a separate post on the coin chat forum if you want advice for grading. Just make sure you have a description like help grade my half dollar or whatever you want graded
It either just happens, or you frequently check contests forum. I've revived coins as gifts just by showing off my collection3 times now. People see you taking the time to post your collection and want to add to your collection. It may not happen all the time but it does happen here.
Oh ok. Good to know buddy! I'm actually taking pics of all my kennedys that I currently own and as you suggested, will post it on one of the forums to get an idea if it's worth keeping or spending.
I'm not saying that people will automatically do it. I'm just saying that's how I have gotten stuff in the past.
Understood! Quick question, I bought 2 1935 C/E Silver cert for $4. It's pretty beat up and worn down. Was that a fair price considering it's condition?
Dude there is a paper money section. I am sure that you will get your questions answered there better than in here. Just click forums and look for paper money. You have to stay on the topic That you post.
