Are there any coins out there that have pictures of children? I know there are some notes, but I don't think I've seen any coins.
Couple more that I can think of: World Children Summit in New York. Not too sure why Russia under that era would commemorate such coins Project hope I just wished I owned a 1741 Ionna III ruble - that is perhaps the only time when a baby Tsar ruled Russia for a short period of time. http://www.library.yale.edu/slavic/coins/html/ivan6.html
Didn't Australia have a 50 cent coin for the International Year of the Child? I'll look when I get home, but I'm sure someone here can find it for me before then.
Thanks for reminding me Topher - doh It's actually Year of Family I think, not too sure if there is International Year of Children. But it does feature children in abstract form.
Clinker helped on this one His trivia had me looking at coins from the Philippines when I saw this one.
Look for some spanish crowns of the 1890s. They had the head of an infant king. Lots of others in history like that, however most are very expensive.
An interesting "children" coin is the Hungarian 50 forint circulating commem issued two years ago. Its theme is the International Children's Safety Service: http://english.mnb.hu/Engine.aspx?page=mnben_emlekpenz&ContentID=7398 The child drawing depicted on the coin was taken from the logo of that service. http://www.ngysz.hu/ Christian
