That's why I'm trying to read the posts on the 1899 counterfeits. I have nothing to add, because I know nothing about the 1889 counterfeits, but I'm trying to learn.
Good Morning. Now, I see what caused the highjacked train wreck! Let me answer your last post. TheMont, posted: "The title of this tread is "1899 Counterfeit". I waited while it was discussed and when I felt that there was a lull in the discussion I brought in my post concerning another counterfeit." No need to bring up the other stuff in your post again as I already answered it. Then, after dumb me forgot the thread was about an 1889-CC counterfeit and called the coin an 1899 due to your post, this: TheMont, posted: "Gee, that was an interesting post about 1899 counterfeits." I figured you were making a "snarky" comment about the date error I made and replied: "Wow, guess you got me good. More importantly, did you understand how the alteration was done?" Now to your last post: TheMont, posted: "That's why I'm trying to read the posts on the 1899 counterfeits. I have nothing to add, because I know nothing about the 1889 counterfeits, but I'm trying to learn." The thread is not about 1899 counterfeits. LOL! NOTE to others, I am still looking for a cup and saucer "seam" image. I don't wish to go to the bank to get a coin to photograph.
A soft collet would be made that matches the reeding on the O.D. That would hold it securely w/o leaving marks. At least none the casual observer would ever find.
