While swapping straps and ordering my next boxes the teller said she had something for me. The manager came over and said the guy that deposited it with non silver kennys from pocket also brought a $490 bag the day before, unfortunately already locked in the vault. I'll be back for that tomorrow and post the results. Fingers crossed!

The 1919 is pitted like it was sandblasted. Only just could read the last two of 1919. But it's a space filler.
The other roll that looked like didn't have a wheat or almost no copper in it. It did give almost immaculate 2017P, 2015P and 2014P to replace mine. Fixing to do two more penny and two more nickel today. And save 2 of each for the morning before the bank opens.

Of the last two penny rolls there were 94 zinc and 6 others I didn't need. The nickels gave nothing but eye strain and hand coordination. That's it for today.

I'm a regular there swapping out 2-3 times a week. They're less than a 1/4 mile from a loomis terminal so I get fresh from mint and fed straps often. I also bring chocolate for the ladies so they're always happy to see me lol.

Long story with a happy ending here:

I stopped at a bank on my way home from work and asked for halves tonight. The teller did some asking around and scared up $202.50 in CWRs. I could see the rolls were a dump because I recognized another local CRHer's mark on the wrappers, and I could see the $2.50 loose were Cu-Ni. Of course I bought them all as a courtesy.

As I was finishing my transaction the customer next to me called out, "I have some half dollars I'm depositing if you want to buy them!". She was in her 70's, and as soon as she made her announcement 3 tellers crowded around her and started telling her not to deposit the silver coins she had placed on the counter, but instead take them to a LCS and sell them.

I told her I was a collector and I could tell her the value of her silver coins. She didn't deposit the silver coins and she was unsure whether or not she wanted to chat with me, so I retreated to the lobby.

As she passed through the lobby I again offered to tell her the value of her silver coins. She accepted, so I explained to her what she had in silver coins and what a LCS would likely pay her for them.

She insisted some Ikes she also had were silver, but she eventually came around and understood they weren't.

Eventually she decided to sell me the coins below for $17...I'm happy and she was also satisfied...win-win:shame:

Oh, and the CWRs were a skunk, but I'm not complaining.

Wow an AES. Teller stories are great. One teller told me of a young girl who was left by a grandfather a green box of AESs. The tellers insisted she take them to a dealer but insisted she needed the money. The teller told me when she left with the cash, bank customers standing in line were buying the AESs at face value. Always a day late and a dollar short!

They are great and the tellers do luck out at times. Today the manager at a branch told me about a guy that brought in a bag of dimes the other day. When the teller took the bag she noticed that they were all silver dimes. The whole bag roughly $200 fv. The manager insisted that he take them to a LCS or Pawn and he pompously replied "look at my account do you think I care that these are silver?" So after the door locked down the branch workers sorted them in even piles, hit the ATM machine to balance the till count and made off like bandits. I think they deserve that. All the crap they deal with because of people's emotional ties to their funny money...good for them. Get a steak and a beer on the snob lol.

Rewarded for your good deed! I've steered people to my coin dealer too but if they don't seem to care, so many are standing by. They are great stories though either way.

Neat! I've never had rolls of mint coins :( I've found some nice ones before, however, that were almost uncirculated, but none that totally were...

Very nice finds...especially considering you don't search halves.

I asked the teller. She got maybe 12-15 out of a drawer.
I asked for anything pre 70. She handed me the 68D and two 67P. I saw the nice 74P and had to have it.
Got 7 each CWR pennies and nickels at that bank and 8 penny and 6 nickel MWR (Loomis) at my bank.
Got a real nice 1974D penny from the first Loomis penny roll.

Got a better 88D and 90D penny so far.
Got a 49P nickel but mine is better.
    Gonna read for a while.

2 Boxes of Halves yielded 2 40%ers in the second box only. So I have decided to come out of retirement and do 2 boxes of halves a week instead of 5. Good compromise so I won't get burned out dumping. I will also hit the tellers for Ikes. Happy Hunting Everyone!

Small victories. One of those nickels that looks like it just came out of the mint, in this case a 1990D that was far better looking than the one I had!
    And found a 2009P penny I needed.

    Little bit at a time.
