Like what i said in Tyler Graton's thread, it look like the copper has been rubbed off. Ive always said that the copper plating is so thin that you could literally rub it off between two fingers.

The surfaces do not appear to be altered to the point one would expect if the plating had been rubbed off. Perhaps @Fred Weinberg will chime in and share his thoughts?

    OP,

Care to post a photo of the reverse?

Looks partially plated to me (pre-strike) To rub it enough to remove the plating would also impart wear to the high points of the coin (including most likely the rims) and also eliminate what appears to be luster in the affected area. I do not believe this to be PSD.

    Looks genuine to me.

    It has the right 'look'
    and surfaces for a partially
    plated cent.

@dollar you should put it under the light and see what it looks like. Kinda play around with the angles. See if you can see the shine, it's pretty cool

I'd say the same is true for yours too, Tyler. Very interesting that it displays the same on both sides as well.

Thank you. I though that was the case too because of the shine. I wish I had kept the other example i had just like this but with no shine.

Any chance you could post straight-on shots of both sides?
