The coins that arrived in my first order were of sub-optimal quality. The second set appears OTOH to be perfect.

I haven't looked at the third set well enough yet, so I'm reserving judgment.

Ken, I am disappointed with these coins as I have been a big supporter of enhanced uncirculated coins made by our Mint. I own 2 of the enhanced Silver American Eagles as well as one of each of the EU Native American Dollars from the coin and currency sets from the past 3 years.

I think that they squandered an opportunity to have some fun with every denomination in the set, and we got polished dates and mottoes. All of the preceding coins did something artistic with the designs. 2 quarter designs use some kind of enhancement in the designs, but the rest of the coins are flat except for the dates and mottoes.

    Just my 2 cents

Cripes Mike......I'm eating my dinner and you're giving me indigestion. From what I've received, it's beauty embodied.......not Marilyn Monroe, but close.

One complaint I read about what the lack of consistency in what "enhanced uncirculated" looks like. The silver eagle is by far the best EU coin so far, IMO. But I kinda like that EU can look different (inconsistent) depending on the coin type. In this set the coins have tons of frosting, which I'm quite fond of. The quarters and dollar appear more intricate. Again, I like the variation.

None of the complaints have stopped the vultures from asking for HUGE premiums. All of the major coin TV shows are touting the "six minute sell out" of these sets on their respective shows.

Of course, we know that's not true. But, why let the truth get in the way of robbing Grandma of her hard earned retirement dollars.

on eBay ... the low end are going for $36.90 BIN w/free shipping.
Looks like the profit mongers are closer to breaking even now.

And they're still for sale on the USMINT.GOV website for $29.95 + shipping.
    pretty amazing.

At 10am today, there were 6K available at the mint. In fact, over the last couple days, the returns have about matched the daily sales.

I received my set yesterday. I think the coins look nice, except there's a little piece of crud in the nickel capsule:(

They still have some. Order another one and return your cruddy one. Might want to do this really soon though, they are going in and out of availability. There were only a few 1,000 left as of Sunday.

There were 5977 available at 10am today (yesterday's returns)... keep an eye on the thread at PCGS' board - nurmaler periodically updates from the mint's site.

I've thought about that, but the coins look really good, and I might be taking a bigger chance returning it and getting coins that don't look as good, and yeah, they'll be gone soon.

Another thing : will they be issuing an NA coin & currency set this year? It's not on the schedule, at least not up to December 5th. It would be interesting to see whether the E.U. dollar in that set will be different than the one in the 225th E.U. set or the same.

My speculation is no C&C set this year.

While I enjoy the way this new set looks, I really wish there was some consistency with what the mint calls "enhanced uncirculated". The 2014 enhanced uncirculated Kennedy is completely different.

In another thread I gave a heads up when these went back on sale on the 3rd.? I ordered two orders of five, ten total to set aside for fellow CT members that got shut out.
I just broke down and opened one of the orders. I really don't need all that I ordered, especially with my order on 8/1. Thought I would send some back. They all looked great however. But the kicker.....
That order of five sets on 8/3 actually contained six sets. The second order of 8/3 is still sealed but weighs the same. So two sets free for me. Guess the packing staff is tired of packing, unpacking and packing again.
Or maybe it was this guy and he just didn't give a hoot. bath.jpg
Any who, the mint final sales figures for these could be off by two.
