What is the next Lincoln cent you will be most likely to purchase?
    In what grade?
    Certified or raw?
Where do you plan to look for it?
With prices rising every day, how much do you expect to pay for it?

    Ouch!
Nice target. Most certainly worth the investment, and the sooner the better.
Mine's an XF-40 and that's the end of it.

In fact my whole Lincoln set is XF or better except the 1922-Plain (VF-25.)

I'm toying with a bronze/brass slabbed set of Memorial cents (1959-1982) in MS-65 or -66 plus proofs.
I started with 1959 and I only allow myself to buy two years ahead of what I've completed.
That keeps me from spending big bucks all at once and gives me something to look forward to each week.
Just started. 1959 completed. So I'm working on 1960 and 1961.

My very next Lincoln cent purchase will be the 2007P and 2007D that will come in my Mint set. Pretty dull, but that's really the plan.

"Ouch" seems to be about right. I'm trying to decide whether to get the minimum (MS-60) or save more money and go for a higher grade.
I think they're only going to get more expensive as time goes on.

I like anything with the S mintmark on it, especially the wheat ears, and I might be picking some of those up if I can.

I'm always in the market for any that are a good deal.
    Period.

I do plan on finding a 1909 S VDB, though.
I want to get one before the prices rocket.

I had good luck getting an S-VDB by following the auctions on Heritage. Usually there are a few coins left over after the big auctions that sell as "Buy now". Sometimes they are left over because they are "problem coins", but many are not. Their pictures are good enough that you can tell exactly what you're getting.

Ive been buying lots of random dates all around. Ive just recently been getting serious about my lincoln album. Right now Im working on getting some BU examples for the 30s and 40s. Ive been buying up some 1909 vdb's as well. there something about having the first year of that coin. It makes me excited to see the original design before the shrunkin head that began the 70s and the etched in beard of the 90s.

Not really sure how to answer that. Most of what I get are the best bargains I find on eBay. However, the coins I am specifically looking for are a 1946- MS66 (cert) and a 1953- MS66 (cert). I have started looking for my Xmas present already. There are about 8 unc coins I need. Which ever I run into first. Certified preferred, but not required (if I find a reputable dealer). And I now have a real nice set I will be looking to trade for a 1909-S VDB (60-62 or so). That will probably be certified also.

Have you looked at the prices over the last 5 years? They are already 'rocketing'!

I've been wondering.... does the semi key's in a series increase at the same rate as the key's of the series?

I think it's going they're going to get a lot higher, quicker, soon.

I think we have 2-3 years before they peak out $$$ wise, I look for them to reach a boiling point in 09 when 1,000,000 new collectors hit the hobby.
    IMHO

If the the lincoln cent is discontinued in 2009 will the demand still continue? New collectors might start from coins in circulation.

Another thing I've noticed, unlike the 3-leg buff there seem to be lot of high grade 1909 S VDB. What would be a decent grade to acquire a 1909 S VDB in?
