Wow, Looks like one of my old fav sellers has turned into a coin factory. But, he list's them as cleaned. I am starting to no longer feel sorry for the suckers of the world after watching a string of these go on tonight.

Fair listing no doubt. Coin has been cleaned in capitol letters. I almost want to hi 5 the guy for finding the biggest fools on the planet.

    Stunned.

Listing looks fine to me. The seller's telling them what's what.

Many collectors, especially in Europe, are fine with cleaned coins.

Listing is perfectly fine and acceptable no doubt, I am not saying it's not, I know Eric and he is a great guy. It's the buyers I laughin at !!
I would love to be able to sell $1.00 coins for $69 too !!

    This is awesome !!

People loose their heads on ebay (&/or do no research). I've sold stuff used for more than someone could just go buy it new, it's crazy no doubt.

Like you. I am not knocking Eric. I have been working with him longer than you. I believe him to be honest, but his pictures are good. Sometimes I think too good. And it does not have to be a cleaned coin that he gets too much for. He sold 1909-S (f-15 maybe VF-20) for $240 and I have seen him get the same price for an AU 1931-S. I am convinced that his secret is the pictures there is nothing else he does or even infers.

    Rlm...
Don't read me wrong either... I have probably 50 feedbacks from him on my 2 buy accounts. I agree, he takes incredible pictures and has always been great with me in every way. Has even allowed me to bid when short on cash knowing I would catch up in a cpl weeks.
I'm just wondering if this is a trend for the future. Are we seeing an early heat up of the Lincoln market turning into a frenzy? Thats my guess. It is getting harder and harder to buy nice Lincolns at the " right " price, especially as a reseller.
I have gone to software bidding and place bids on 500+ Lincolns a week, just hoping to catch the ones that fall thru the cracks, and believe me, my success rate has fallen dramatically lately. The coins I REALLY want, I find myself paying Ask+++ sometimes, they are just that hard to get.
I know you know my eBay store. You notice the coins I start at .99 are not as nice as the coins I sell in store @ BIN, which are priced high, but, those are the coins I don't mind keeping, if you know what I'm saying. They are nice high end coins tho, the toughies so to speak.

I think it's a sign ( I hope a good one) of things to come with this Lincoln thingy in 09, but I do hope the market keeps a level head. Some of the prices I see Eric bring are not level headed. I have emailed him and ask him what his majik is, he just laughs in good sport.

Back to our point. Eric is a great guy, proclaims cleaned coins when they are cleaned, and takes great pics. WOW, I wish I had the same success, lol.

Has anyone else noticed all the links to Ebay posted here go through some ad server ads.auctionads dot com. Either they have programmed that or this site has been hacked.

Yes, and IE "cannot display the page".

My guess is that my hosts file, which has lots of evil little sites redirected to a dead IP address so as to avoid junkware, includes the auctionads.com domain, thereby protecting me from them. I'll have to check and confirm this.

But meanwhile, no, I cannot see any of the references to eBay.

I've never dealt with "Eric" but he's way up front about it so no problem by me.
Yep, the bidders were stupid on that one. Not like it's a key date - jeez!

It's one thing to buy a cleaned coin if it's a tough date but a fairly common one?

I went to a show yesterday and nearly walked out without spending a dime. Then I saw a coin that I wanted/needed. Yep, think it took a cleaning in the past and got a good, first hand look at it and bought. Why? 1855 3 Cent Silver in VF+. Guy had it marked $150 and got it for $125 which is still retail. I see them on ebay now and then but never trust them.
This one I saw and I've dealt with this dealer before. It was my decision and I went for it.

Mintage is 139,000 by the way and I really have to wonder how many of that date of baby fingernail sized coins remain. Nice die clash on the reverse too.

Point is that I did this as an informed buyer for a tougher date. Buying a cleaned, "common" Lincoln at full retail is just dumb.

P.S. For all those that joke about buying dremels etc. that really wouldn't make sense. Buy the cleaned coin cheap then sell it as cleaned. Seemed to work for this seller.
I've got a nasty 13-S that I need to get rid of!

Ok, so what you are saying is that this guy cleans the coins, and sells them for double the worth?

The one thing I am having trouble understanding is how they can get so high? What is so great about them? Couldn't I find another ebay auction on the same coin BU, for the price that it really is?

So, does price go up if they are cleaned?

    No....back up

Eric a while back told me he bought a cpl collections, and in the listings, he stated up front some of the coins were cleaned, as he should have. No problem.

I freaked out when I saw a few of the prices he's getting these days on these cleaned coins. No fault of his, but he has gotten some bizerk money on some sub par material. Bidders problem...not sellers.
