Here's three different type 1 cent copper coins from Sarawak, North Borneo from during the time of the British Raj. Now part of Malaysia.

Ian,Sarawak was an independent monarchy under British protection right up until 1946,when Rajah Sir Charles Vyner Brooke ceded Sarawak to the Crown.Sarawak's coin series is another difficult one to collect.

    Neat coins Mikjo0

What I forgot to mention about these North Borneo 1 cent coins is that the rims are fairly high and as a consequence, the coin takes a fair amount of circulation before the high points on the devices get worn down to EF. That's the key reason why most of the coins still left `out there' tend to be in high grade. The overall design of that coin, not just the subject material depicted makes it very rewarding to collect. Some of the dates are becoming increasingly difficult to find. I only managed to complete my date run through the goodwill of a fellow collector in Australia who happened to have a `dupe' of the one that had been eluding me (the 1894). I'd love to get hold of a proof example (any date) but i've never come across on so far.

The 1933H 1/2c. & the silver coins are notoriously difficult to find, but the bronze 1c. of Rajah Sir Charles Vyner Brooke is easier to find, except for the 1941H,which is a rare coin, just like the Hong Kong coins of that year.

Great coins, a few months ago there was some Clinker trivia on the White Raja. Very interesting history.

You would need to give an idea of the coin's condition for a rough valuation, or a photo.

Have to agree it is a lot easier if you have a pic of both sides of the coin to work with :D
