This Parthian coin is pretty amazing- who collects Parthians, and what do you have to say about them? http://www.vcoins.com/ancient/nbnumismatics/store/viewItem.asp?idProduct=907&large=0 All I know about Parthians is their mounted archery technique.
Hello, I'm not a Parthian coins specialist, I have only a few of them. This one is a nice tetradrachm of Mithradates II, not exceptionnal, but very nice, and, I would say, in the price range we encounter them usually. V coins sellers are IMO very reliable, generally speaking Cucumbor
I do have an Orodes I, if I were going to collect more I would stick to the earlier kings like the Mithradates II you show, the portraits are many times higher quality than the later issues, say those after 0 CE. Too bad they are so expensive.
And I think I may have misspoken in that by "high quality," I wasn't referring to its condition (though nice) but more the design and execution seem of a high level for the time period, and given what (little) I know of the Parthians (nomadic roots?) Ye who collect these, what should we know about Parthian coinage? Where were the mints?
Very nice. I'm only really interested in Vardanes I (I have about 8 of them), but I've bought some earlier ones aswell.
I'm not actually completely sure myself ! He had a pretty interesting reign, but was a true machiavellian, if Tactics is to be believed. I bought a tetradrachm last december, and I bought the other 7 coins seperately in the beginning of this year.
