First, I was trying to determine if this is a DDO... I could not match it perfectly to any of the 3 on http://varietyvista.com/03 Buffalo Nickels/DDO 1919.htm Looking at possible doubling on the feathers, lips, chin, nose, and also the last '9' which did not come out good in my first set of pics. Also visible on some letters of LIBERTY. Second, on the reverse, at about 7'o'clock on the rim, looks like the top of a 'TS', but could easily not be that. The left part is raised, but would not be surprised if the right part is just a ding. Funny how you can see some new stuff with pics and also lose some features due to the focus. Any help with possibly identification is appreciated.
Lou Take a look at the Image I have up loaded, it's an over lay of a buffalo nickel, this may help explain what you're looking at on your specimen. What you're looking at is clashes, from a set of clashed dies.
@Paddy54 thanks as always! Still doing my best to learn from my mistakes. I continue to read other's threads to learn as well. Maybe one day I will begin to get some stuff right!
Stop being so hard on yourself it's by mistakes we learn, I've learned far more in life by mistakes then by being correct. No one else is perfect !
