    Hi! it's time to announce August's giveaway!

    We'll be simplifying things considerably this time.

    Just post your favorite coin.

    Right here in this thread. There's no need to post a separate thread this time.

    One entry per member.

    If you can't post a picture, describe your favorite coin. Or your dream coin.

    We will do a random drawing on or shortly after September 1st, 2017.

    Four winners will be drawn. Prize pictures will follow later.

    @Steve66 also expressed a desire to get involved and said:
    I thought it was a great idea, of course. Free large silver coins for somebody? What's not to like? Now, I don't know how "creative" this giveaway is, but we should have the "uncomplicated" and "fun" attributes covered, anyway.

    So based upon that, let's say I will put up two prizes and @Steve66 will put up two.

    Then at the end, we'll do the drawing, and I will ship my prizes to the two people who won them, and Steve66 can do likewise with his two prizes.

    One of the prizes I'll put up is this 1974 Bahamian 2-dollar coin. It is an Uncirculated specimen strike in the original Franklin Mint packaging. At 40mm, it is quite a large coin.

    (I have three of these. Winner will receive either the exact one shown, or one just like it.)


    The other prize I'll put up this time will be a proof Canadian "Loon" dollar from 1987, which was the first year of issue for this type. It will be in the original Royal Canadian Mint packaging and includes the original case and cardboard outer sleeve. I do not remember if the COA card is in there or not.

    I just love error coins and found this to be really cool. I'd say I overspent, but I still like it so much that I must not have :) Photos are old, so I apologize if they are poor. 1864 IHC with L, rotated die, ANACS VG10

    If you mean using a random number generator for the drawing, then yes, that's the intention.

    These are random drawings and not contests, though I might do another contest with some skill element later.

    But my intention this month is to keep things simple, fun, and easy to participate in.

    Ok so for my favorite coin I own, it'd probably go to the mercury dime. I just love the design. A nice internet found picture will have to do for now, as i can't get a nice picture of mine at the moment.

    But for a coin I don't own, it'd have to go to with this design of the 500 Lire Italian coin. I've always just loved it. Im still fishing for a good one, so maybe by next contest, this will go as my favorite coin I do own!

    As promised the other 2 Prize Coins.... I'm not sure how we will decide who receives what coin... Maybe first winner get first choice, second winner gets second choice, and so on...

    My favorite/dream coin..... the Pan-Pacific octagonal gold $50
    At least a thousand more, but this will suffice for now.
