if the 2017 "enhanced" really do look much more like the satin finish coins - i too will be returning my excess sets - if there's nothing special, there's no reason to have extra's......
The Mint's enhanced coins seem to have different finishes each time. The enhanced 2013 Silver Eagle is different from the enhanced 2014 Kennedy which is different from the enhanced coin and currency dollars which are different from these. I really like the semi-polished details contracted by the frosty textures on the rest of the coins. I just wish there was some consistency with what the Mint considers "enhanced uncirculated".
I am disappointed with the lack of effort on the mints part. There should be more enhancement on these. I do like the look of the quarters the most, just think the rest should have more contrast/enhancement. I know, it seems I (we) complain no matter what the mint does, but you have to admit, these appear to have very little "enhancement" on them, especially when comparing them to previous enhanced releases. I'm still glad I was able to get a few though. The extras will just sit unless someone that missed out on them for whatever reasons wants one.. No worries.
I'll be interested to see the sets 'in hand'.........currently out of town, I'll post some photogs when I get back.....
Those photo's actually make the coins look pretty good! And, without a doubt, these are EnhancedUncirculated Coins but I wish they would have been a bit more LIBERAL with the "enhancing"!
That would be hilarious if it was come to be known that a satin-finish was actually quote-unquote accidentally used.
What gives here? I didn't order until 4 August and my order # is: 05221773 and it is confirmed by mint emails.
I did the Denver ANA Show and I must say it was very well attended. As for the enhanced sets, I think they look a lot better in person than the photos show. Purchasing limit at the mint display for these was 500 per person. A few dealers had several employees in line & hooked up with 2-3 thousand sets, but most bought the 500 or less. The line lasted all day, but everyone that waited got the sets they desired thanks to one dealer at the back of the line. He was going to get 500 sets & that would have wiped out the remaining quantity, but he allowed the 10-15 others behind him to buy their sets first & settled for @200. Not all dealers are greedy! Long & skinny of it is that the Mint did sell out on the first day, but it took all day. Guestimate they had about 10-12K sets available.
in case ya missed it....this past saturday - our best friend "MIKE" at HSN claimed he had purchased 30,000 sets and was selling those released at the "denver" show for $349.00 each....
