I heard about one. but cant remember? I think my big ears caught something about copper, and it would be cool if he did some other metals.

Are those Merlin bars only available at the show? Does anyone know if the non hologram eclipse coins will be sold on his site?

I believe he had both for sale on Tuesday. Not sure if they were from his personal collection though?

I'm fairly sure that once the show is over and Dan gets settled that you will see the Merlin bars and non holographic issues of the Eclipse medals for sale on his site .
The Merlin bars have actually been pictured on his site for a few weeks now with a mintage of 99.
He probably decided to wait until after the show to release all the new pieces and clean up the site of past issues that are sold out and finished.

The burnished Astronaut Dollar that Pickin and G purchased is obviously one that Dan brought out from his archives as a show offering .
I would think Dan wanted to show the masses some of his past and present issues and what his capabilities are going forward .
I would have loved to see the archived pieces that he put out for sale as some must have been pretty unique :)

    Nice pick up P&G !!!

The site itself will make things unavailable when the quantity he put in has been sold. He had said everything was mint to demand through the show. Since then he either really hasn't sold anything in the last month or so from the announcement or prepare for mintage figures to significantly increase when he finally updates those, most of those haven't changed in weeks.

  9. I also noticed that mintages have not changed much in the past month or so. Sort of hoping it stays that way. Guess it will depend on what happens at the show.

What you have stated isn't really that accurate to be honest .

The Merlin bar was never offered on the site( only shown in the catalog), so it has never been available through online ordering .
You are accurate in that if it was pictured in the store and the availability ran out then the button to place it in your cart would not be there .

In regards to the offerings in the catalog, well I wouldn't expect any of them to increase drastically except possibly the 1917 Broken Sword Peace as I wouldn't expect 616 to be the final mintage as it's just too low.
I expect most of the others are near their end of production and Dan pretty much stated that in this thread .

I would expect some new offerings and the continuation of the existing Clark Gruber pieces .

Dan has always had open mintages except when he stated a specific number or it says final in the catalogue at the offering time .

No matter what additional amounts he mints for the existing pieces it will still be a ridiculously low number based on my experiences over the past 5-6 years.

It is accurate to be honest. I understand the Merlin wasn't put up yet just appeared in the mintage log. I was referring to the products that have been up for a while for sale through the site. The mintage on many of them hasn't changed in weeks. Either the mintage is under reported at the moment or they haven't sold that well.

I would hardly call any of them redicilously low aside from the 1917 Broken Sword would be pretty low but I doubt production is ending on that anytime soon. The octagon Owls have never had an open mintage and have had a sitting mintage of 155 for several weeks now, they are still available to order on his site of of this posting time. That's already 45 more than the year before which was higher than the year before that.

Go actually look through the mintages and compare to the year before. Many of them are already well past the previous years numbers and they have not even been on sale that long. The ones that aren't quite there yet like the Lesher dollars aren't very far off and again this is all with the numbers not being updated in a couple weeks for the most part.

I actually couldn't find any aside from the Broken Sword that I would consider ridiculously low or even close to that. Like @TopcatCoin I hope they don't go up much more, but since they are all still available for sale the only way they wouldn't is if they aren't selling withe the exception of the holographic medal where the mintage is now final

    Hahahaha

I guess you and I have a completely different understanding of the words LOW MINTAGE ..

You are basically saying that something that might reach 300 in mintage is starting to become oversaturated .

    Come on man !
Lets be real here . You can't expect the man to do all of the work involved and have everything with issue numbers of 200 or less .

I'm not going to bother responding to everything else you said as I'm sorry I said anything at all , because it's all just words on a screen .

Think of things this way ... If Dan's numbers are increasing each year then that's a good thing as it shows that popularity is growing and maybe more mainstream .

That is not low for him. Everything is relative. Technically 1 million is low compared to the population but we both know that is huge. His mintages this year on a lot of products are high for him and seem to keep climbing.

With his rising premiums why not? A mixture would be nice at least, not everything setting a new high every year. His niche has always been limited products that hold their value, if these mintages keep creeping and jumping watch how quickly that will change.

Lets use your example.. The Octagon Owl

First year he had to limit it to one per household.
2016 was a strict limit of two per household..
2017 you could order 50 if you wanted to, so it wouldn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that the totals this year would be greater.

Since you only like to compare numbers from the last few years, how about you go back and look at some of the numbers in mintages of the years 2009-2011 and see if your argument still holds water .

Unfortunately there are no guarantees in life . You could buy an issue like the owl and it could get minted to say 350 pieces or by chance the die could break twenty pieces in and you could be the lucky dog that got one of those first twenty.

You want a guarantee then buy one of everything the day it hits his site and I'll guarantee you that one of them will be a winner :)

His numbers are extremely low relative to any private mint, artist edition or any collectible out there, so I wouldn't be so concerned ;)

    Sorry that happened.
I supplied the silver medals to the USS Colorado committee in "clamshell" tubes. They placed the medals in the capsules for sale. Apparently, that one came in contact with fingers ? This may be related to the same "milk spotting" problem that plagues the US Silver Eagle coins. You might try washing it lightly with soap and water, and then a 1-minute "dip" in full-strength cleaner.

2017 Large Silver Owl has sold out with a mintage of 166.

I had to go to the bathroom and checked Dan's site before heading back to bed, yadda, yadda, yadda, never went back to bed. Loaded up a few items at 3:30 am and Dan kept adding stuff for about 3 hours. Man, I was having fun.

    From my Order History Page:

Unfortunately my phone died on the first day and I couldn't get a replacrment until I was about to leave for the airport. Oh did it suck. Not many pics, couldn't research VAMs, values etc. I did pick up some nice Carr pieces but my eyes were much, much larger than my wallet. The two best sellers were the Broken Sword overstrikes and the Eclipse medals. People couldnt get enough of either. I highly suggest getting the broken sword overstrike if you haven't yet or get a few more while you can. They are poised to become the next 64d Peace imo.
