Yeah, at shows the old white holders go fast, but blues are a joke. Yellows are not fast movers unless the prices are lower due to it being ANACS. On eBay, however, where most of my experience lies, blue and yellow anacs are very hard to sell.

CBD was absolutely spot on with his assessment. The ANACS ones that do sell are generally lower value or sell at steep discounts to the PCGS and NGC counterparts. More money is generally lost when it comes time to sell than what is saved on grading. There are always exceptions but overall he was definitely right

That's your opinions not mine as you're entitled to yours I am mine.....Besides I have and always will buy the coin not what the coin is in.

That's the right mindset. Honestly I bought an AU53 bust half in an ANACS yellow holder a couple years ago that upgraded to AU58 at PCGS! Of course, that doesn't say much for their accuracy..... but it pays to look at them.

Again as said to you before what TPG slaps on a holder doesn't mean squat to me.
Case in point you and I just did a deal...We both were honest as to what we paid and what we sold said coins for.
The only reason I gave up the trade was it was no way by my eye,and experience in this hobby worth what you sold it for ,or the grade on the slab.
Again that's my opinion and the coin in question wasn't purchased to be a part of my collection, it was purchased as I knew it be an easy flip. Not because of the coins but what was on the slab.
Under any circumstances that coin wasn't what was on that slab... however to each their own.

It was a 64 Morgan, but not a plus grade. The star is subjective to how NGC graders are feeling at the moment. It was a vibrant rainbow, anyway, so I could see it.

ANACS has graded some of my gold tougher than NGC and PCGS. If they would make their holder look better it would help their business greatly. Those suckers are ugly.

Or does it say something about PCGS's consistency?

Depends on the discovery coin. I tried asking if they'd do a discovery coin and the response amounted to "we'll grade it, but only attribute if someone can find another matching coin." In a way, that makes sense, except the coin was "grease-filled" of a manner they're attributed in other circumstances.

I have a few gold Indians that have matching die cracks, etc. Wonder if they do discovery coins on those? How do you know if something is known or discovered yet?

It really isn't an opinion when discussing the market realities which he was though. My personal opinion is ANACS is to quick to details grade somethings, but since NGC has been on their tirade this year I do like ANACS better than NGC. That said the market realities are what they are and are measurable with sales records that can be looked up which support the point CBD was making. People just need to at least be aware of those facts before deciding where to send things

There really doesn't seem to be a set formula for how to get those accomplished. About the only thing that seems to always help is letters from experts in the series or known variety experts

Sadly, I contacted DIVA about it, as well, and got a different answer that amounted to the same thing: "You can send it to us, but we may or may not accept to attribute it."

To bring my post back to the thread topic, however, I hate these "per coin" deals for ANACS. I've never seen one that beats their bulk (8-coin, 10-coin, 15-coin) club specials due to the extreme nature of their FedEx shipping.

I'm done wasting my money on fly-by-night outfits like ANACS, PCGS, and NGC. I'm saving my money and rarities for the Wooderson Galleries & Rare Coins team. I hear they have a new facility in the works... ;)

You had to go there didn't you? Well I hope when you do your coin stickers too!
A small pair of pants on fire sticker, should look good on your new state of the art slabs.

That's the reason I stopped using them.

I sent in one once for a 2 day turn around, and they sent it back "Smart Post".
It took almost 10 days to get it back.
Don't forget they still CHARGE a big premium for shipping.

Sorry Jeff, did not mean to step on your thread by posting another. I just got my email yesterday and often miss many threads as I'm not usually on until later at night.

I'd notice that handwriting on those two doubled dies anywhere (hint, hint) Most of the DDR-043's I had were in excellent condition and never came back from ANACS at less than MS65. The DDR-009's are not nearly as valuable so I would say to pass on that one. The others I'm not sure about. Condition is everything.
