How quickly we forget that the only source for the 1970-D Kennedy Half was in an Uncirculated Set which had a mintage of 2+ Million! Kennedy Collectors will be hard pressed with only 225,000 Enhanced Uncirculated Kennedy's! Should have ordered more. NO NO NO NO NO!
I was sitting here doing other stuff with the screen up. Oops .. lost 30 minutes and they were all gone by then. on ebay some have sold for $32 LOL Now I need to buy one in the aftermarket.
Strikes one, and two. Do we really NEED to wait 6 months before we can say... NEXT BATTER UP??? LOL. I completely spaced out about these. I received the reminder from the mint at 12:18 eastern time, but too late. I'm such an idiot. I was thinking to get 25 sets so I could help out members here that couldn't place orders at the specified time. But i blew it. Anybody else successfully order extras with this in mind??? PM me if any have an extra one. John P.S. A big THANK YOU to the mint for remaining clueless, and incompetent, as I like predictably in my coin sources.
My disposable income available for coin speculation is not all that big. I usually only buy one of each thing I collect. If I feel it might be a hot item, I'll grab up to 5.
Coin World reporting there was no line at the Denver Mint shop this morning. Customers are/were permitted to buy up to 20 sets per transaction.
I'd like to hear some reports on how on how it goes at the ANA. Sales don't start there for another hour and a half, and everyone will probably already know they are sold out on the website.
That's funny .. on ebay was going to buy one for $49.95 incl shipping. I hit refresh just to make sure and it updated price to $59.99. LOL
Funny. LOL And exactly correct. My wife asked if there was a chance he got some... I replied with a sigh and a heavy "No chance".
Agreed. Once again due to no household limits, many collectors get shutout. Would a 2 per household limit, at least for a week or two be unreasonable??? Receiving an alert from them before the launch time must also be impossible for them. These sets are produced for collectors, so why not give them a real chance to get them. I should have been ready, so I know it's my own fault that I was a little late. I am now with the rest who are done with the mint completely.
They'll no doubt be asking for double the issue price by the end of the day. Only real hope for a reasonable purchase is fellow collectors that care more for helping out others, than the possibility (and risk/hassle) of flipping them for a little profit.
Understood. I've always entertained thoughts of ordering 100 or 500 of these "Limited Edition No Household Ordering Limit" products but then I remember that I just do not have the proper venue for getting rid of them. A $2 or $3 Profit is just not worth it to me. Especially when eBay pulls out their 10%, Paypal pulls out their 3% and then I get dinged for charging minimal shipping charges. Of course, they could be submitted for First Strike™ slab labels but then PCGS wants $18 per coin which then really screws with the profit numbers unless you get all 70's since 69's will be a complete waste of shipping/grading/return shipping fee's. A patient person would wait the 6 months but a lot of us just aren't that patient AND the coin Buying Community is a VERY FICKLED Community. Meaning, 6 months from now, there will be some other shiny object to dangle in front of us. Kinda like lap dogs with a choice between bacon or steak.
Hey! I've got some original US Mint Uncirculated Sets from the 70's that I'd be Happy to let go of for their original issue price! Proof Sets as well! You know and I know that the prices will come down on these once the luster of having them has faded. The only real question is: "Will you want one after that luster is gone?" Even at "Issue Price + Shipping"? A lot of folks do not and I've got some to prove it. No doubt, it is a Dog eat Dog Coin Buying World and I do not fault the sellers one bit. They are there to make a profit. I fault the US Mint for being so ignorant regarding products, mintages, ordering limits, and availabilities at major US Coin Shows. WTH are they thinking?
