$700 but they sell for $1000. The market is overpriced for big bills. (500's and 1000's). The 5000 and 10,000's are astronomical. This one is worn, has tears and ink writing, and even $700 should be the top. But they go for more on E Bay. Perhaps put it back in a mylar or vinyl sleeve to protect it from further wear.
IMO $500. It's not in the best condition. Folds, tears, and writing. Others will chime in with more info, and maybe a higher value.
Big bills carry a huge premium, even in this condition. Not too long ago you could get this for $550. Not any more.
Big bills are kinda overpriced on ebay regardless of condition, but I think $600-650 would be right for this one. Regardless, it's a pretty cool item. Back when this bill was printed, it was probably a few months pay for the average person. Only rich people would probably use these in transactions. If this were printed in 1938-1940, it would have been worth almost $9000 in today's money. You could have bought a used car with this. The minimum wage back then? 25 cents per hour.
I won a small lawsuit when I was 18 yo the lawyer gave me a check to cash at his bank. When I cashed it I asked the bank teller jokingly if she had any $500 or $1000 bills and to my surprise she said yes so I took them cause I never held either before and soon deposited them in my bank......boy I wish I knew then what I know now. I'd say this note could get around $700-$800.
Wow. That's neat. Just as there are silver coins still in circulation, I would imagine that these do still get deposited in banks, under similar circumstances as you've described. Certainly not many of them, but I'm sure if you asked around at enough (hundreds, or thousands) of banks, you'd find a few. After all, not everybody can afford to set 500 bucks aside! People have gotta live. I got a cool 1950s star note $100 when I cashed my paycheck back in the 1990s, once. But I couldn't afford to set it aside, so I gave it to the landlord with my rent payment. Pointed it out to him, but he couldn't have cared less. I'm sure he deposited it or stuck it in his safe.
I have no reason to lie, serves no purpose. But doesn't matter cause like I said I didnt know what I had so I just let them slip by me.
I did not say you were. I just said it was hard to believe. It is hard to believe that GDJMSP has never issued a Like, but people say it is true.
