:woot: Ha, you suckers fell for the click bait , not a standing liberty.

But a pretty good score anyway. Ever since I found a missing portion of my Grandmothers collection in my attic the other day, I've been plugging some of the holes in her old Whitman albums and adding a few. Almost all of my Grandmothers collection was picked out of circulation, so the condition is not all that great with the older sets, but they're nice honest coins. I bought this one the other day looking at some pretty bad images. It looked pretty heavily hair lined, but is showed about the amount of detail needed to match the rest of the set properly. It was cheap enough, so I took a chance. It came in today and it clearly had an old cleaning and shows some hairlines, but they are very light compared to the sellers images.

    Sellers images:

And my iphone image. Much better in hand than I thought it would be and it matches the set beautifully.

@Kirkuleez (I think we both have the same first name) - The seller should hire you as their photographer - The coin looks like a million bucks in your image.

I think it's awesome of you to honor your grandmother this way. You should show us the set!

Back to the seller. This is of particular interest to me, as I purposely try to avoid this seller. I have no experience with him/her/them, but every one of their titles says "Estate Find", and for some reason, that bugs me. But, seeing your coin, and what you said about it, I may give them a try. They have had some coins that seemed decently priced, but like I said, their titling bothers me.

    Thanks for sharing this!

I recognize that seller. Let me guess... It's from an Estate Find? For some reason all of their coins look like they have been harshly cleaned. How does it look in hand compared to the images?

If your assuming that my name is Kirk, you'd be correct. Have you been blessed with being called captain all of your life too?

Yea, the estate find thing bugs me too, but I've actually had decent luck with him overall. No real scores, but generally better than expected. I wouldn't necessarily claim to have won this deal though, I paid 22 for it which is about right.

Well that's good to know. I'll have to give them a try sometime. I just have not been able to bring myself to buy from them yet.

The hair lines are there, but not nearly as evident as in the sellers images. My image is fairly accurate to the look in hand. You can see the hair lines with the naked eye on the right side of the fields on the obverse, but that's about it. I think he's just way overexposed and is making them look worse than they are. Frankly, I'd much rather a bad image than a juiced up image any day. Juiced up images will always leave you disappointed when you get it in. At least with rough images, you can get a surprise now and again.

Wow. Your image is a quantum leap beyond the seller's. I'm sure that worked to your advantage.

Off to read your treasure find tale, now, which I had missed.

Here are some quick shots. I've got sixteen more on the way from an eBay buying spree today, but have a pretty good way to go. IMG_2535.JPG IMG_2538.JPG IMG_2539.JPG IMG_2540.JPG IMG_2541.JPG IMG_2542.JPG
