This org was called NORFED in the past. Lots of you are familiar and most are disinterested.. but I thought they were cool enough to order 10 bucks worth. Looks like the e-pay'ers are paying triple for them already. There are 6 in the auction site already. These look very very interesting under a loop.. I see attributes that don't occur in anything the US mint made. Rainbow toning and delamination (how does 99.9% copper have a 'skin'?) and I can clearly see stepped letters (for lack of knowing any technical terms). They look more cast than stamped.. and the reeds on the edge look half-hearted... barely depressed. I'm not complaining or demeaning the items.. just stating observations. awaiting my "Ron Paul" dollars now. I wonder how many who vought them are just keeping them and not "spending"? Probably 80% I'll guess. no link.. I dunno if it's proper. EDIT picture added. sorry for the focus.. can't get in close with this 50 dollar camera. None of the pictures show the attributes I talked about. All the edges have a small step leading off them to the field. like it was rough-carved to the field depth and then the letters and designs were fine-carved by another process. I dunno what process was used.
I'll try to get some of the cool parts with the loop on the camera. Gimme a few minutes. BTW these were ordered about 6 months ago (edit: attached) one more to coome in original post.. sorry about the focus.. but you get the idea.
Trying to not get censored heree.. I think theres a policy on here about these things.. but I'm not affiliated. Search for Liberty Dollar. They are sold for a buck a piece in the copper version. They go all the way up to gold and maybe plat iirc. wikipedia is a good start.
WOW I have not visited the website for a while.. I can't readily find where to BUY MORE.. I recall something about them being made in pre-ordered batches but I'm not sure. Anyway I read the section on "private liberty dollars" and that sounds cool.. I'd love a big ol pile of coins of my own design.. but the cost.. wow. The "liberty associate" section has something "pyramid-like" built in. I hate to use that term.. they seem like they are a group with a genuine cause.. still.. bottom line: cool pieces to have and hold. maybe a blip in the historical numismatic radar.. maybe more... but I've got my 10.
I have to disagree with you there. I think they are paranoid black helicopter-seeing nut cases who see a conspiracy in everything the US government does. Personally, I think the idea that money has to be backed by precious metals is ridiculously obsolete. The world they envision would keep the size of the world economy where it was 200 years ago. Arguably, that might be a good thing, but it's just not going to happen.
what are the quality of these coins? I saw a few that looked horrible but they make be fakes. ( on ebay of course)
