Ok folks, We've been chatting a LOT about the new ebay rules and how they may affect "quality" sellers such as Abon/SGS. Well, there is another place to go for them. OVERSTOCK. Although much smaller there is a market. I did some quick ciphering and presently Abon (as they are known on Overstock) represents at LEAST 17 % of all coin auctions. Guess what? - they're getting bids too. This is their current list of items available on Overstock. http://auctions.overstock.com/cgi-bi...=4&BYSELL=abon Bear with me here folks as I have an idea forming. CT members and mods may shoot it down but others will like it I feel. Either way I'll get over it. IF the ebay rule changes affect the Abon/SGS connection (and I feel they will) they will need to peddle somewhere else. Overstock is a good second choice but the bidder numbers are miniscule in comparison to ebay. Soooo... pump up the number of members on Overstock. Registration is free. From experience I can tell you that there are a good deal of non paying bidders and it's usually not worth pursuing. However, if one does decide to sell there are quite a few good bidders looking to buy. Just start your bid at what you need. Fire up the numbers without EVER bidding on Abon coins. Let them think there is a market there (of course they will have read this at some point). Silly? perhaps. Maniacal laughter - good bet. Lead them to a market where there really aren't any more bidders. They will only see increased listing fees and more non paying bidders. Twisted but possible.
That's why I included this Jack. "Fire up the numbers without EVER bidding on Abon coins. Let them think there is a market there (of course they will have read this at some point)." On the other hand if things get tough and you're only deceiving let's say 2/3 of the bidders you're used to you try other avenues. Basic business even if it's crooked.

Yes and thank you. Mine worked before - what's up with that? Are you bidding on anything o your SapperNurseness? LOL
We have to be careful about interfering with a legal enterprise (overstock.com.) There are legal ramifications. Think about it. While I agree in heart and spirit, we have to be careful about advocating an orchestrated effort to interfere with an established and legal enterprise such as overstock.com. While we all know and despise the marketing practises of abon.com, and their deceptive and misleading marketing on Ebay as an independant TPG, we have to be really careful about taking our passionate beliefs on the deceptive marketing practices of abon.com to another level. Like I have said many times, it is my personal opinion, that abon et al, use deceptive and misleading marketing practises that in my mind are overtly fraudulent. I can use their own feedback on Ebay to defend my opinions. I just do not think it is wise to use cointalk chats to orchestrate any efforts to disrupt or interfere with a third party that may unwittingly host the deceptive marketing practises that abon uses to sell these so-called "graded coins" to the naive and newbies..... Of course this is all just my opinion.
Your point is well taken BZ. Of course any time we mention abon it could be construed as same. When people want to split hairs they really can (and I'm not referring to you to make that clear). Actually if I'm guilty of anything it's pushing a membership drive for Overstock. What people do once they get over there is their business. Short and sweet. Hmmm- guess I'm splitting hairs here. If an experienced collector goes and checks out Overstock that person will find it is rampant with the same problems as ebay only on a much smaller scale. Of course that makes it easier to spot. Tossing out some thoughts and thank you for your insightful response. clembo
check out he 1943 P Walking Lib. Perhaps their lowest graded coin ever! MS-63. Not bad for an XF. http://auctions.overstock.com/item/43034214
Nice coin - must have been a weak strike. NO detail on the eagles breast and Miss Liberty ain't looking to hot either. SGS quality no matter where you find it.
