I got a roll of new 2007 Idaho quarters from the bank and these ten were in the roll, all together! Any thought's about the discolorization? They almost look like the color of the new dollars, my scanner isn't the best.

look people my scanner sucks...im not trying to get over on anyone and im not some kook! take my word on it, these ten quarters are brand new outta a bank roll of idaho quarters. these ten coins were all together in the roll and have discolorations on various places. when i laid a new pres. dollar next to one of these coins i noticed that the color of the dollar and the color of the discolored part of the quarter were in fact EXACTELY the same!
my only goal in passing this info on to coin talk is hopefully locating someone who also has found within a new roll the same MINT screwup quarters.:headbang:

jef the color being the same as a $1 is a coincidence, nothing more. It is toning, that's all, and it is not uncommon - even from a bank roll.

im finding it a little hard to believe its toning, and the reason is

the locations and design of the discoloration,i wish i had a

better camera so i could show you in more detail.

If you want to prove it to yourself, take 1 coin, dip it in a commercial coin dip or jewelry cleaner. The toning will disappear and you will have a normally colored quarter.

Hellooooooo ...you have nothing special...they are just quarters and they are worth $.25. Get over it already.
Yeah, ok ..they look funny ...you're not rich. Every now and then you get new quarters that are discolored...no biggie.

Move along ..nothing to see here...now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Go Chargers !!!!!

Tensions run high whenever discolored Idaho quarters are the subject.

I've had similar toning happen to several state quarters I've collected since 1999, sort of a "bronzing" effect. I'm of the opinion it was caused by something involved in the manufacturing process of the paper used for the wrappers. Also, several I was storing in a Whitman album did the same thing. Those I've kept in a Dansco seem to fair better.

Looks almost like the coins didn't get a proper rinse at one point . They look stained for one thing or another.
The coin in the upper left is the best example of toning/something on the coin. You can see the halfmoon shape where another coin was on top of it when it got toned/stained.

well i took one of the coins and ipped it, then I tried to clean it with nic-a-lene, then I tried MS 70 industrial strength coin brightner and im telling you this isnt a tonning problem its the planchet...the coin still has the discolored section and it was uneffected by all 3 processes! So?
