Found my second silver today and first American silver, funny I am having more luck finding silver in coinstar lately than CHR lol
That's what I am saying. All my silver mostly came from coin star. Tonight I'll post every silver I found from coinstar so far. Another thing you should do is make good with employees at circle k or gas station. If you ask em every once in a while while they aren't busy, to lift the coin skirt to see if she has any goods. I've found a war nickel that way. Toned yellow too. Ask for half dollars too
most of the gas station clerks around here that ive came in contact with say they save the "odd" looking coins lol. I had a twenty something yo girl come through work the other day and she is also into dare I say coin collecting lol. With the internet everyone is a coin collector these days. Oh the sad thing is I offered to go through what she has to let her know if its worth keeping and she declined so her loss because she had about 50+ Sacajawea's that I wanted to look through to see if she had a Cheerio or wounded eagle.
The mint made a limited number of sacagaweas prior to 2000 and sent them to GM for them to box in a limited number of cherios, not to be released until the first of the year. You can tell these apart because they have well detailed tail-feathers. They are worth a good bit of money.
Ohhh that's what it's called okay haha I knew about that one but forgot what it was called. Yeah I look for those too. Had a big old batch of them from the smoke shops. Check your local smoke shop and alcohol store. Addiction will make you do anything
If we are talking from that angle there are many different things that lead people to spending money they don't want to. Laziness, carelessness, etc. Lower income areas usually tend to yield the most silver and older notes. I'll do a dump and grab at a bunk in the hood here and there to switch it up. It's usually worth the detour. Edit- moreso money they shouldn't rather than they don't want to. Many cases it's really other people's money anyway so as long as it spends they are happy.
It is unfortunate, but such is the way of the world. I look at it from the standpoint of being a preservationist. What happens will happen whether I like it or not, but at least I can do my part to preserve these pieces of numismatic history from further detriment.
Slightly off centered India coin. With a Canadian and a new style Mexico. Mexico is too dirty. Keeping it for the metal content.
Well because CRH includes allllll types of coins. But CoinStar is specifically coins that dont fit their standards as coins, limiting the clad making silver easier. Ive yet to find anything other than the two I posted earlier somewhere on this massive thread.
Today I went to the coinstar before work and there was a huge pile of coins in the reject! I was so excited, however sadly it wasn't all silver. Actually it wasn't silver at all. It was upwards of 3 dollars in modern coins. And 500 pesos. I mean still, can't beat free money!
Stopped at a Safeway with my boys today. The older one "I get the coinstar!" They both run to the machine one checking the reject and one on the floor... 1 euro 1 2 euro 60 cents Canadian 22 cents US 25 cents Bahamas an Israel coin a Columbia coin and a battery ... they were very excited.
