What's goin on, all? So, bro bought a coin back in March that was shipped on March 22. Almost four months passed and there was no sign of it. He was worried that it had been lost. Guess what came in today!! It's a rare silver quarter ma'ah struck under Ptolemy II. The YHDH never made it on to the coin, but it's still pretty neat. I think it was one if the earliest coins minted in Jerusalem. I couldn't get a half way decent shot because it's so small (not that any of my pics are decent ). Feel free to post your coins that you thought went missing or any random coin at all. Erin
This one took a week or more longer than I expected (coming from Canada). I was counting the days lol Miletos, Ionia AR 1/12 stater. c 525 BC. Head of lion left / Star ornament within incuse square. Grose 8210, SNGvA 2081, SNG Cop 944v, BMC 186.
I'm happy that your brother's coin finally arrived, Erin! It's very unique. This is not my coin that went missing but the replacement for the one that disappeared upon entering the United States from Israel last December.
Like Zumbly, I'm trying to figure out the reverse on that interesting coin that finally showed up. Of course, I'm unfamiliar with 'quarter silver ma'ah' in the first place Thankfully, I haven't had any problem with delivery of my coins...so I'll throw in a 'random' example roughly relevant: A rough and worn bronze of Cleopatra:
Thanks everybody! Bro is so relieved! The reverse is actually an eagle. It would have had YHDH to the left of it. I love that prutot, Deacon Ray. I need to get myself one. Rockin Cleopatra coin, Mikey. Erin
Congratulations on the safe if super late arrival of the coin. I wonder if that is the record for the longest time lost in shipment that still arrived for the ancients folks here? Do you suppose it was sitting in customs all that time? John
I'm pretty sure customs was the hold up. I have no idea why it would take so long to get through the process. I hope that it never takes anywhere near that long for anything to arrive again! Erin
cool, what a neat little coin...if I've seen one of these before I don't remember it. I looked up some on vcoins, one was under 7 mm...is this that tiny?
Better late than never. Your brother must have been very anxious all this time : "Tout est bien qui finit bien" ! Q
