Hello, I have a collection of six pence pieces dating from 1933 to the 1960's I'm not sure if they're collectable as I've never collected them before
We would need to know the condition to give you any information. Could you upload some clear photos please?
I'll readily agree that the condition would need to be known to determine the value of the coins. But are they collectible, in any condition ? Absolutely. There are a great many people who collect 6 pence coins, and all their brethren.
I have quite a few in my collection as well from a variety of countries. Until we see them we won't know, but there is also the fact that quite a few of them in those dates are probably silver to one degree or another. So you will need to consider that as well.
1920-1946 sixpences are 50% silver you have 3 of those there worth melt which is currently .74 cents the rest of them are copper nickel and pretty much worthless
Not exactly worthless, but certainly not of much value. Someone may be willing to buy them as fillers for a set, maybe $2 or $3 for the set of 17. So that means about $5 for the entire lot. Of course, if you are interested in compile a set of sixpences then they are worth whatever value you put on them.
There is a market for all older British coins. As mentioned, they are not rare, but there are those who collect them and the ones you have are in decent shape. I've been selling coins like that for about $1.25 apiece for years on eBay. They always sell but it can take a few months. Some people also use them along with weddings too. I don't know what the superstition is but there's something out there. So no fortune by any means but they're not junk either.
