My goodness. I call it 63, even though literally everything except the prime focal grading area (the cheek) cries out for more. 64 maybe, and that's what I think the slab says.
I'm guessing MS64. A very pretty coin, especially the reverse, but her cheek looks like she may have been in a knife fight...
MS63 unless what looks like bag rub was deemed the result of brief circulation. Absolutely stunning reverse regardless of grade.
64+....Its amazing how much cheaper a coin like this is, as opposed to, if the toning was on the obverse.
I'm thinking that, regardless of any other indications regarding grade, they felt the marks were not consistent with zero circulation and they therefore had to offer a circulated grade for it. A disadvantage to the beautiful toning on the reverse is that the untoned areas of the devices can resemble "rub" by contrast, as well. Guess I can't argue the conclusion.
This would make a GREAT specimen 4 the toning premium thread (part 2) Im curious what the premium was -if any- 4 this example.... Its been my experience that (toned) generic silver $ graded AU dont really fetch much of a premium, compared to there MS counterparts......
My gut said that there was rub (particularly with the color change on the eagle's breast and wingtips), but I felt it could be arguably a MS-63 with a possible bump for color (TPG grade, not mine). I would not pay a premium for the color, but I am a cheapskate.
Funny. I was thinking 58 as I just first saw it but started convincing myself it was in a 63 slab then I scrolled down to say that and the grade was posted. Lol. Always go with your gut!
Thank you! You may have missed the GTG, but now you can guess the premium in the Toning Premium Part 2 thread.
