Actually, that wasn't original. I borrowed the pic from somebody else's meme. The coin definitely looks like it suffered a woodpecker attack. That's the first thing that came to my mind. I wonder what did that. I've seen "peckmark" damage like this before, but don't know what caused it.
It's silver. Color alone indicates that. Besides, there's no copper core peeking out from beneath the axe wounds and woodpecker dents. So at least it's worth a buck-fifteen melt value as of this post. It's a 1946-64 silver Roosie.
