Here is one of my latest acquisitions:Janiform female heads each wearing stephanos with central earring.reverse Athena wearing Corinthian helmet. Mysia, Lampsachos ARTetrobol 4th.-3r. Century BC.
Nice example. I have one with a gnarly die shift/die break combo on the obv. MYSIA, Lampsakos. 4th-3rd centuries BC. AR Diobol (12mm, 1.25 g, 1h). Janiform female heads / Helmeted head of Athena right; bee (or fly) to right. ΛA above, M to right. Baldwin, Lampsakos, Group B, Type 1, 19; SNG France 1190
That's a beautiful coin! I like it so much, I think I will see if I can find one to add to my collection
Wonderful posts everyone! I LOVE the Greek janiform examples....and now I have to have one too To pile on I'll throw in a couple of 'similar' Republicans as well---A denarius of Rufus--'Jugate' with Venus; and an AS of Pompey the Great....with a barely discernible Prow reverse:
