    I got my TJ FS today. The packaging for the proof appears to be same. The UC came in a burled wood tone box.

    The proof is simply stunning. Mine was saying 9/24 for delivery. Obviously it came today 9/21.
    Here are few peeks::)

    Yes I was wondering if there is any benefit to keeping them sealed? For Grading?

    Yes keep them sealed for grading or reselling, they are worth more in the unopened box.

    4th spouse gold

    4th spouse gold prices might be higher due to current gold price upward. i think the price could go as high as $449.95 for unc and $469.95 for proof.

    Yes, but... I might disagree with this particular coin. The coin is not available in any other option, so as with the 20th anniversary eagle sets, you don't need sealed gov't packaging to prove it's provenance. Also, and this is PURELY my humble opinion, in the past people would prefer to buy unopened products simply because that meant that they hadn't been cherry-picked. This has become much less of an issue with modern commemorative coins, because the quality of them all is nearly perfect. You are very unlikely to find a coin of any appreciable difference from one set to another, so no cherry-picking, hence no extra value for unopened. In fact, I would argue that I would rather have the opened and certainly undamaged coin vs. the unknown. I think most collectors of reason will soon also make this realization as well, but in the interim, you would be exactly right as to their preference for the unopened package.

    I would assume that if one wishes to have them slabbed and get the infamous first release stuff they would , they would have to keep them in the sealed box. It is a shame that with as few coins that were minted, that this label is even a option.

    I ordered two and when they arrive (USPS) I will rip the box open and enjoy what appears to be a truly beautiful coin. Thanks for the pictures.

    After being backordered, the mint shows my UNC as shipped and moved the backorder date on my proof up to 09/24. Here's hoping the Proof comes too.

    Just out of curiosity, does every else agree that if we get a damaged one, we are SOL on a replacement?!?!

    Think PCGS is still prompting the First strkies for the first spouse coins for a $10 insert designation. Much like the gold anniversary sets where PCGS was doing this and NGC did not because of the limited mintage.

    If one is going to sell them, then this insert is probably worth the extra $10. Seems to be enough people out there who love 'em.

    first strike?

    only 20,000 coin for each type. there are no such thing as first strike. every coins were minted together. if you talking about million of coins. then there might be so call first strike.
