Perhaps he or she will follow up here, when or if DLRC responds to his or her "yeah you probably didn't mean this but I'll be totally happy to cough up the $165 if you do" message.

Pretty fair and reasonable approach for this unnamed individual to take imo. I'll secretly hope their efforts pay off.

Wow! It was gone in just 2 minutes. I wonder if the sale will be cancelled due to an error in the listing?

The last one sold on eBay went for $5250. Sure, it's good to keep up a good customer-service reputation by honoring pricing mistakes, but there are limits.

Wow! I had a seller cancel an auction I won yesterday because it went to cheap. sold for $220, and I was expecting closer to $290. I negged him for it, as there was no reason to cancel. THIS, I can see being a real reason (mistake) to cancel.

I would be willing to bet the buyer wont be too happy if the sale gets cancelled. It is kind of the risk of doing business. Trust me, every once in while youre going to make a mistake that youre going to have to pay for. If he is good at business he will have integrity. "My loss is your gain." Although if he was good at business, he would have double checked his listing before posting.

If they were good at business? Do you really not know who they are? They are one of the most successful dealers in the country, they are certainly good at business. They also list 1000s of coins constantly and have their own auction site with a lot of turnover so mistakes will happen.

Canceling a mistake has nothing to do with integrity. It was an obvious mistake listing that was either supposed to be an auction or just had the wrong price that was so far off reality it clearly could never be a sale. Buyers should have integrity as well and not expect to rip someone off because of an obviously mistake.

They could eat that mistake if they wanted, but they shouldn't have too. The sale will likely be cancelled and rightfully so and the buyer will probably get a little extra in someway as an apology

I know exactly who they are. I see his coins on ebay all the time. I think youre taking what i said a bit out of context, so i should have been a bit clearer. My apologies. Will the sale be cancelled? Yes, probably so. Should he own up to his mistake? Yes. Is he going to take $165 for the set? No. Should he give the buyer something in return for his mistake? Yes. I was just saying I hope he owns up to his mistake and doesnt just give the buyer back his money. That's all im saying.

And who knows, that buyer might be someone really excited for what they practically just stole. I would atleast make it worth their time. And as a good business owner, I like to put myself in the customer's shoes. And besides it isnt like that loss is going to put Mr David Lawrence out of business now is it?

Word from the "buyer" is that DLRC sent a polite note, a cancellation, and a refund this morning. One would assume that the listings last night were automated, and done by a different department from the one processing orders.

I don't think DLRC "owed" anyone any more than that, although it would be great if they would reinstate the online versions of their Barber guides, seeing as how they're apparently no longer for sale...
