Been traveling, so didn't hunt far a while. Picked up some customer rolls yesterday.

$150 in small dollars yielded 3 NIFCs.
$80 in quarters yeilded a very nice 1984-D that may be an upgrade for my book.
    $40 in dimes - skunk
    $20 in nickels - skunk
$1.50 in cents - one 2009-D capitol building in near AU.

A slow start, but I also picked up some cent and nickel boxes for later this week.

4 boxes of halves yielded one 64 Kennedy. 3 CWR of halves today nothing.

I'm partly through roll six as I type this. I have found a few dates I know I want to change. First I dip the replacement.
Then get the dark coin out of the flip. In two instances so far the coin from the flip looks better so it goes back in.
Have yet to see a P 2009. And that's the way it is.

2005 nickel with nice gold toning around the letters closest to the edge both front and back. 1999 D with slightly off center And cool looking damage. a couple AU copper coins. The 79 D has a weird O in one cent too thought it looked cool even though it's most likely damaged. Loving the color of the 64 d all of these were found in a cash register at work IMG_1635.JPG

So far a beautiful golden tone 1966. A good if that good 1919P.
And that's it through 3 rolls.

Now I'm not condoning the cleaning of modern coins by any means:angelic:, because that would make the glove wearers poo blood, but when cleaning bronze or copper ancients a good thing to try is hydrogen peroxide. You can get the high octane stuff just be careful not to get it on yourself (read its MSDS before you buy it). I just use the booboo grade first aid 3.5% and am patient with it. Changing the HP every 12 hours or so and washing the coin with dish detergent and a toothbrush/nylon bristle cleaning brush and drying it. It loosens many impurities while not directly negatively affecting the coins surface. I have tried the vinegar and lemon juice thing in the past while experimenting with suggestions and seeing the outcomes...those always leave copper/zinc Cents looking "off" like it was at ground zero on some southwestern US proving ground.

Oh I agree that many/most of the coins I dip look off.
But when it works I get a nice golden tone that is bright.
And so far as I know I'm not ruining any high dollar pennies.
4 rolls to do this morning and then a bank, post office and library run.

Start getting boxes and soon you'll have every lincoln memorial cent year in ms with a gold tone.

AAAARGH! My first box I've picked up to hunt in 5 years... pennies. Opened the box - every roll is completely 2017D. I opened like 5 rolls just to be sure, and ALL enders are 2017D. So mad! Ugh. Taking the rest back soon - not even opening them. Just gonna turn the rolls in and MAYBE get another box... should I even bother?

You could search for varieties or sell them on eBay. Or just return them to a bank and ask for customer wrapped rolls.

Only thing really through 8 MWR penny rolls was a decent 1987P and a 2013P. (Better than what I had).
Still have yet to see the first 2009P.

Idk man that O looks like it may be an error. You could take a better straight on shot and post it in the error coin thread. Those guys there will have a better idea.

I picked up $580 in MWRs today and spotted 1 reverse ender JFK. Hopefully there are other keeper coins hiding inside the rolls. I'll report here after I make time to open them!

I will when I get home. I'll post it to ya. But the worse it could be is struck through grease or maybe die deterioration I'd say. Couldn't be anything too much to write home about.

Could be grease but it's still pretty cool. Id think die deterioration would cause a larger device rather than smaller or a chunk missing from the device.

Another good batch. $32 CWR Nickels. Another 1913 T1 Buffalo, second in a month and 4th ever Buffalo from the wild. This one too worn to see a MM, but a T1 nonetheless. 41, 2x44D, 52, 54, 55, 59, 4x59D, 60, AU60D, 61D, 62, 62D and an AU/BU65. I have about a half roll of pre63 and I'll be at my 5 roll benchmark, at that time I'll be checking for RPM and other varieties with them. Pretty stoked!
