Here's one I've had on my want list for a while now. I've been with the tradition of not posting coins before they arrive but I'm excited to have this one so I'm posting it early. I really want to start learning more about ancient Iberia both before and during the Roman conquests. Does anyone have any information about these bad boys? Please share anything Iberian. Also sticking with ancient Iberia I'd love to see any Emporion examples. That's up next on the want list. Obverse: Bearded male head right, BON in Iberian legend behind. Reverse: Horseman rearing right holding spear, BOLSKAN in Iberian below
Awesome coin. I don't have one yet, though I've almost pulled the trigger on one before. I think they are fantastic coins.
Hopefully you can get one soon man. I agree they are fantastic coins and really an under appreciated period of Roman history. It seems the conquest of Iberia gets condensced into the punic wars and Augustus' pacifying of the Cantabri.. you just don't seem to hear much more. Maybe someone can recommend a book about this period??
Nice coin Ajax. Tons of mints and fun to collect. Osca After 204 BC AR Drachm Obvs: Male head right, Ж٣ behind. Revs: Horseman holding spear right, ЖΓMA٢ below. 17mm, 3.63g Bascunes After 150 BC AR Denarius Obvs: Bearded male right. Revs: Rider on horse holding sword. 17x18mm, 4.02g
Nice Iberian silver. Here's a bronze unit using the same types. And an AE half unit with a pegasos on the reverse rather than a horseman.
thank you AA, yup it's the home office.. i was taking a pic of the hurricane lamp and when i posted it, everyone commented on the Iberian Crusader shield that was in the pic and didn't hardly say anything about the lamp
