Are they serious? I think the Mint, if considering this at this point, is way to late. There are now billions of these in the coin stream. I'm getting them on a regular basis CRH. And they have come way down on Fleabay. This, and the fact that they are still selling Presidential Mint sets from 2011 tells a lot about lack of interest and poor judgement. IMHO. What say you?

Reckon they are thinking not enough people have purchased them for 200+ a box and the market will bear much more?

    That is absolutely hilarious.

What does the US Mint do with profits?

I haven't seen one 2017-P cent come through my change.

The Presidential dollars should have never been made.

I don't get why they don't just do it all the time and just fill them to order type thing.

But I do agree it's time for them to take down the things from years ago that they can't sell and just throw those coins into circulation or something like that.

Haven't made a purchase from the mint in years now...... one foot on a banana peel the other in the grave!
Sad as one of the world's premier mints can't get it right.....said it before will say it again what I see from Perth, the RCM, as well as the Royal mint have it hands down over the U.S. mint.
To me to add insult to injury was the 3 gold coins Mercury dime, Standing Liberty quarter , and Walking Liberty series .
Really wasn't that impressive .....considering the design was made in masses years ago.
The designs were timeless.....and yet at a time where the process of minting coins should be at its best they drop the ball totally in this collector eyes.
Add to the fact ......they limit mintage's that their bread and butter collectors the even day and young Numismatists can't obtain without buying at a premium after market.

I haven't seen a 2017 P in circulation. Don't care if I do. Why does the Mint think any of us would want to BUY them? They not only think we're stupid, they've convinced themselves we actually are (which tends to irritate me).

Completely agree. Royal Australian Mint as well. Seems like everyone is pumping out fantastic products and the US mint is still a few decades behind.

    The P mint mark.

Exactly my point, they should have offered them early before their official release and at a reasonable cost if they were going to do it at all. Now, it's a mute issue. After making the 2009's available they should have taken a lesson from that. The first "P" mint mark is a milestone that they could have made out very well on but they missed their chance.

Probably their 'dark net' plan is to start making them with intentional "doubled" single squeeze chatter marks, off center, clips, on screws, nail, cockroaches, eagle feathers, in aluminum coke can planchet, and sell them through dark net dealers. Goal of 1 out of every 10 will be a winner.

Think about this .....they can't duplicate the details and design of yesteryear coinage because they don't have an artist capabilities of reproduction. They rely on computer generated designs instead of hand carved pieces of art.
The end results a product that's very disappointing to the collectors.

Some here like the effects they use on the new proof coins.....myself to me I rather have a coin struck the old fashion way. Some were camo some weren't . Nowadays everything looks cloned ,and fake.

Agreed again. The mirrors on the new proofs are so deep as well that any minuscule imperfection makes it look terrible.

At one time U.S. coins and design were a work of art....these days they fall under the same production ethics as making washers.

Where I live all the ones I have gotten are 2017-D. But I really don't care about the zinc cents.

Well, would still like to have a box of the 2017-P cents.

Since the 2017P cent is not a true commemorative similar to the 2009-dated Lincoln cents or the ATB quarters, the US Mint did not think a coin that will be minted in the 3-5 billion range, per Mint, would be considered special.

Now, if the US Mint really wanted to sell something different and in specially-wrapped rolls, they could sell rolls of 20 American silver eagles direct and commemorative clad halves and silver dollars.
