I just got my assignments from the ANA for Denver. I will be working most of every day for the ANA, with only brief respites for a little break here and there. If it's August 1 through August 5, and the bourse is open, I WILL be in a blue golf shirt with the ANA stitching on it. (This is the ANA National Volunteer uniform.) Tues., Aug. 1 - Admissions and Lobby duty Wed., Aug. 2 - Lobby and Message Center (where you page people) Thur., Aug. 3 - Lobby and Kid's Zone split Fri., Aug. 4 - Kid's Zone all day (yippee!) Friday night - Banquet Sat., Aug. 5 - Lobby and Kid's Zone split Saturday night - Phillies vs. Rockies at Coors Field (could get ugly) My avatar pic is getting a little long in the tooth, as is its subject. Below is a pic from about 2 weeks ago. My Post Office needed it for a Wanted poster. Oh, one more thing - I am one of the exhibit judges, plus I am myself an exhibitor (you can't judge any section you're in), so especially early on in the week, I may be at the exhibits - judging.
PA to CO, on July 30. On the 31st, I can go all "anal retentive" like all the other exhibitors with their gloves and brushes and crap. If you've never seen a competitive exhibitor fiddle over a display case for three hours, it's quite the spectacle.
A mug that would warm the hearts of any Crimestoppers organization. (Actually, good to see you again!)
I love going to shows and been going for years . But the internet is killing the attendants . So get out there and support the hobby .
This year I have solid goals to achieve there. There is even a brand new never-been-done-before U.S. Mint product being released on opening day. "First Day of Issue" slabs anyone? My goal is to not get crushed when they open the gates.
I'll be there. Really looking forward to it. I'll be looking for common Ike Dollars in MS65 or higher. Also will be looking at as many Morgans as I can to help get my grading skills up to snuff.
Great plan. You'll have more 65 Morgans to look at than you can count. Ikes might be a tougher find. They'll be there; you'll just have to look harder.
Sorry I'll miss you. Hope you have fun AND more than one blue polo shirt... otherwise your photo might also (in addition to the FBI's most wanted list) grace a Tide commercial...
The hobby at large has treated me well. This is my little attempt to pay it forward. Many numismatists are far nicer in person than their online personas, and that includes me. I still speak truth to pow..., well, ANYONE, but in person, it comes across more, umm, scholarly.
I would really like to meet and talk to you as your wisdom is most impressive. however, I have to convince my wife and I am on the losing end, at least right now!
