The 2004 coin listed is the Platinum Proof so it is a low mintage, while the gold proof all sell for close to melt in the $50 size [excluding reverse proof].

As far as these spouse coins go the proof is the low modern proof mintage so they could be key coins. I agree they won't appreciate like these, however I think the Jefferson will have a premium over the overs for the reasons I said earlier. And there is a chance it will be at multiples to issue price, it depends on future mintages as always and until they sell the others next year this is all speculation.

For those that bought the 2006 low mintage coins though I see the sales this year are rising now and that should propel their prices higher too.

I plan on holding the 2007 Jefferson as I think they will do well in the next couple of years as the final three Liberty coins get released.

My orders for the Jefferson Spouse just went to in stock and reserved, looks like they may be getting ready to ship these out. Still says the 24th ship date.

Is 9/24 Really The Ship Date??????

This is my first order through the US mint so I'm not sure how their sytem works. I'm leaving forvacation on 9/29 for 10 days and I'm hoping to get my proof and unc by then. Coin World stated in their magazine that the shipping date had been moved to 10/30. The website says the ship date is 10/9 for the UNC and since I ordered both I'm not sure if they hold my Proof until they ship the UNC or if they will ship them seperately. I called the 1-800-usa-mint number and obviusly you are taliking to a call center not affiliated with the Mint and they don't seem to know much or to confident in their answers. Does anyone have a clear cut answer as to when these willl really ship and if anyone has the time can they also call the 800 number and see what you are told as to when these will ship? On my order page it also says in stock and reserved, so does anyone know from past experience if this means it will ship anytime now???? Thanks

    both???

cuz only one of mine is, the UNC. The date on the proof changed, and maybe it will change status as well in a day or so.

Both of mine changed. Before the "in stock and reserved" message, the expected ship date was 9/24.

Is your order number an early or late(r) number?

Generally you can tell when the mint is shipping these as the cancel box will be removed and then they seem to arrive a few days later. Some are reporting the cancel box is gone on their orders so these may start shipping early.

Also yes both proof and UNC are showing in stock and reserved. I expect these to go out FedEx one day when it happens.

my expected ship date is 9/24 on both now but only changed on the proof to that after a week or so. It seems that my UNC order was within the first 20,000 but my proof order was not. However, the ship date changing from 10/9 to 9/24 gave me hope that I would receive the proof coin as well.

I can't tell you when the mint will ship, but I will warn you to make sure that Federal Express doesn't leave the package outside your door when you are on vacation. They did that to me with proof sets. Those are at least replaceable if lost; the First Spouse coins most likely will not be. They would just have to give you your money back.

Make sure Fedex holds the package for your signature. If you keep checking with the mint, you'll get tracking information you can use to contact Fedex so they don't send it back to the mint because you didn't pick it up.

Any guesses as to what the ebay

prices will be once people actually have these in stock?? My order was confirmed at 12:04 so I should be one of the first to get these and I have no desire to sell these unless they are going for $800 or more.

dreamer, I thogh these will come USPS

I paid for the 2 to 3 day delivery and I have them gohng to my po box. I called the Mint again and was told 7 to 10 days which is a totally different answer than I got before.

As I understand it, they automatically use Fedex for any order over a certain amount (I think $350). However, if you call the mint you can arrange for it to be sent by US postal mail. They'll even use registered mail if you pay an extra $2.50 (that's a pretty good deal).

In the past, I've always been asked for a signature on Fedex deliveries from the US Mint. When I got my 20th anniversary ASE sets, I missed the delivery and I actually had to drive to a Fedex location to pick them up. However, Fedex says that unless the sender specifically requests a signature, they will just leave it at the door.

Who knows where the price will be later? It is all over the map now - I see some have sold for barely over cost. Of course, one guy sold his pair for $1399, but they were "First Strike" LOL.

I'm gonna get big money out of mine - they are error coins. I don't have them yet, but I'm sure I can find some kind of error with enough magnification

Oh wait - they are First Strike error coins! Yes!

    Just bein a wise-guy...

I think PCGS should be ashamed of themselves for certifying coins as "First Strikes" that were part of an issue that sold out completely on a single day. Maybe they could put the US Mint order number on the slab and the lowest numbers would get the highest prices. That would make as much sense as calling them First Strikes.

It would be more honest to certify them as "First Shipped" or "First Guy to Get Through" or "Buyer had nothing better to do on sale day then sit at his computer waiting for a response". It would be most honest of all to disavow the "First Strikes" scam altogether.

I'm pretty sure mine will quality for "First Strike" status, but I'm not going to enable them. Besides, I plan to keep the coins.
