1889-CC & 1893-S Morgans

Hi, Im new to the forum and would really like to get to know all of you. I actually have a number of ungraded morgans that i received from my father that i would like you to look at and maybe give me a quote.

They are 1889-CC and a 1893-S

Could you get some larger photos of the 1893-S. From these photos it looks like it is a fake. This is a really rare date and there are a good many fakes out there.

I'm gonna say fake until I see some pictures with more closeups.

 

That '93 S look like it was once a '96.

I think they both look weird in terms of color and texture. That very well could be the lighting though. I agree with Frank on the 93 S too.

 

The coins look somewhat dull ..either really cleaned or fake , I second the notion on the 93 . It looks really funky

 

Welcom to the forum. I have to agree with the others. Both coins look questionable. If you really want to sell, I would strongly recommend sending them to a grading service (probably ANACS, in this case) for authentication.

Both are rare dates and,if real, are worth considerable money.

On the back of the 93 inbetween the T and E of States and then inbetween the LL of dollar, do you see the line?

 

Yea thats some dirt I think. I dont want to clean the coins really, I dont know how.

 

No....at least not do that and be able to sleep at night.
It is best if you don't sell them at all at this time untill you can prove that they are real. Untill that happens they aren't worth $1.

Yes, the coin pictured here is the same coin in the ebay auction. The 93-S is a fake. I suspect the 89-CC is cast as well.

 

So what do you guys think we should do? Report him to eBay for selling fakes, ask him here to pull the auctions, or just try to ignore it?

I think I'll try to be nice and ask him politely to pull his auctions. If that doesn't work, I'll report him to eBay. Anyone else have any good ideas?

 

You need to pull that auction right now. That coin is fake.....I'm 99% sure that it is fake. Its not because I think it is fake but because you need to be sure. If you sell this coin you can get in ALOT more problems with the Fed. Police and I would hate to see that.
