They appear to be evenly spaced and the same size. On Lincolns left you can see a light image above the R, another above the T and an obvious one by his neck. On the right you can see one below his beard just above the tie, and another that starts below the tip of his beard and continues up to the lips. What do you think, columns from the Lincoln Memorial? Don't see anything on the reverse.
Nice find! Yes those are clash marks. Known as a prisoner cent because Abe is behind bars. I believe they are from the bays in between the columns not the columns them self. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.
Yes. Good find. @MontCollector you are correct. The high portion of the reverse die stuck or 'clashed' with the obverse pushing the raised portions into it, so the obverse die then had raised areas that were the lower on the reverse and the lower that were the high. @Swan Here is a link you can use to compare your cent and also look for other coins. Good luck! http://www.maddieclashes.com/one-cent-overlays/
Nice prisoner cent! I didn't fully understand what dchjr said other than he was correct in his attempt. The second link shows your cent in in more detail. Yours is definitely one of them. http://www.error-ref.com/ http://www.error-ref.com/?s=Die+clash#wrap Both Mike Diamond and Fred Weinberg are members here.
