sakata, the CT system would not let me put up the "signature" part I wanted to because it was more than one sentence long. However, here it is so you can see my thoughts: You cannot clearly see your side of an argument until you open your eyes up from where the other guy tried to put your lights out.
This Crown has a total mintage of 715,000 in various versions. This is the Raised Edge Proof version which has a mintage of 2,500. A good clean version runs into $$$

These are one of my fav's... 4 coin series. Guinea, 1980, 2000 Ekuele, Mintage 1,000 , 40mm, .927 silver, proofs Obverse same on all 4 Reverse
I am enjoying this thread but a thought has occurred to me. How many of the coins shown were actually minted in the country in question or ever actually saw the country? I suspect many of them were minted by private mints (Franklin, Pobjoy, etc.) in the name of the country and sold only to collectors. Although many of these coins are attractive I would only buy them for their silver content and do not really consider them "real" coins. I would not pay a premium for them.
The Destiny series. 10,000 mintage in BU. 2500 mintage in the other two finishes. (Antiqued, and proof) They share the same reverse. (Knight) (3rd pic) 1- the Raven. 2- the Dragon. 3- the Shield (will be released soon)
These were produced in 1993 (I think) they were produced in other years also to some extent. These sets were put together by the Franklin mint, but we're sold as individuals also from elsewhere. These sets are hard to find, and about $400 and up when you can find them. Unless you get very lucky that is.
Not familiar with it. Tell me about it. But from its name it would appear to very much fall into that class.
This thread is about low mintages, not about who made them There is no doubt the FM has produced some beautiful coins. I own some. And don't get me wrong, if I can buy silver at a good price, I will. I don't care who made it I just think the FM can sometimes be more of a coin factory, than a mint.
Dan Carr, and Clark Gluber manufacture under the Moonlight Mint name. You can find many threads here, including an ongoing thread, "Post your Dan Carr... Most of their offerings are very limited mintages. And almost never sell at bullion prices. There's plenty of "monetized" bullion that WILL sell near spot, (Eagles,Maples etc...) that some choose to collect, but there are also some that are numismatic related "collectables" which go beyond their intrinsic value. Of course someone needing quick cash, or someone not knowing the potential value of any piece could sell for much under the FMV. happens all the time unfortunately. Anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay/sell it for.
